My feelers are telling me Guehi.

Read somewhere the other day that he isn't on our radar.

Of course there is loads of shite written every day from clueless sources making out they have insight and info - so take most of what see with a lot of salt.

Again it's priorities. You seem to think we are Man City and 3 keepers didn't work so finally Ederson. Let's try 10 full backs, and 6 centre backs. It's nonsense. Fuck chasing them and Klopp already beat them anyway.

I don't think we are man city at all..which is why now is the time to sell konate, while he has value. I certainly wouldn't be giving him the contract of his career, which is what he will want at 25. So the option is let his contract run down and let him walk away. I wouldn't be doing that, because we can't afford to. There's absolutely nothing wrong in buying a player, he doesn't work out and you move him on. It's been happening in football since it was invented. Honestly, we've a bunch of lads up front who in a years time need to have made it here or be fucked off too if they've only got 2 years left. It's just simple business.  It's exactly what we should have done with keita 2 years before he left.

2 more years for Konate's contract. He's fine, probably a bargain at this time/market.

Far bigger fish to fry in the short term.

What makes you think he'd accept just a 2 year bump? He'll want 5 years (so an extra 3) and a massive pay rise. He's proved nothing here.

The situation up front is on a bit of a knife edge isn't it.

Jota will be 28 soon and sadly just seems to be unable to avoid serious injury season after season - it surely has to have an effect on him physically with the accumulation of injuries, never mind fact we can't rely on him really.

Then we have Diaz - again 28 soon and arguably has flattered to deceive so far.

The conversation around Nunez has been raging on from day one and I am sure will continue to rage on.....The question marks are big and obvious.

Salah is of course the main man but is 32 and is now in the last year of his contract.....

There is of course real quality and real potential there - but it is also true to say there is a lot of question marks there as well - as I say it feels like it is on a bit of a knife edge - it does not feel like we are necessarily set for years ala Mane, Firmino and Salah in 2018 for example.

He has two more years on his contract - that will be on the original wages - no need to worry about it this window.

We have 5 forwards and in one way or another I think there's question marks about all of them. As you say looking down the line age wise, there's maybe issues with Diaz and Jota considering the points you make about them both. Diaz I heard lately has 3 years left, so that takes him till he's 30. Jota also has 3 years. As does Nunez. I think gakpo runs till the year later.

So by next summer we have Nunez, Jota and Diaz down to their last 2 years. And we might be waving Salah off on a bosman. Now it would be easy to think the club will have foresight to sort it, yet when we had firmino, Salah and mane, they had 3 similar aged footballers who's contracts were due to expire around the same time.

But all this is why I don't think the club have shut down any rumours about Diaz going. I think they'd be happy for him to go, providing the fee was right. But they won't make a move which suggests we actively want rid. I think sometimes it might be more helpful if we were.more aggressive when we are ready to let players leave. When you're not, you just end up stuck with them like we did with chamberlain and keita.

I disagree. I think players of that age you make a call 2 years out, in a years time his value will be half what it is today.

Who knows, if he plays well this season it could easily be more - we have three far more important and valuable players in that contract position now. Think we bring someone else in there anyway, least of our worries for me.

I wouldnt be surprised if we signed Geertruida. He can play in a few positions so it reduces risk in a couple areas of the team and at the same time it is probably an easy deal where you dont have to move mountains.

Should be an easy deal to do as he is in last year of his contract now. Assuming he is going to move on then now is the time for them to get 25m or so for him.

Some of the conversation here is really weird, it's like we're the first team in the history of football who changed manager over a summer. If Slot hasn't got a clue at this point which positions he needs to strengthen the side, he should be jettisoned already.

Not many clubs lose a manager in slow motion like we did.

It's been a perfect storm of shit timing with the Euros as well as contract issues for key players.

But the club aren't totally to blame, this is how Klopp wanted to go, but it's painted us into a corner.

He was barely tested in the groups. Personally I thought he was pretty poor in the 3 knockout games he played.

Agree with this

I liked what I saw at Palace but that was defending deep. Really not sure he makes that step up. Not a bad player at all, not sure he's the type we need though

And my favourite, where the fuck is Trent playing?

TAW had a decent conversation about this in a pod recently.

Madrid isn't the answer to his prayers, he won't be playing midfield for them.

He wouldn't even start RB ahead of Carvajal.

I wish we'd just commit to using him as a midfielder and bring in a RB to cover Bradley.

My concern is if we start thinking Gomez is a legit 3rd/4th choice CB. He hasn't looked great at CB for a while. He's looked far better at fullback. He should be the 5th CB and reserve fullback. Van den Berg seems to want to leave, I'd happily move him and Tsmiskas on to pay for a top quality CB to back up Virg.

Carvalho won't make it here

Unlucky for him but same with Gordon, both need moved on to play games.

We need another reliable source of goals and assists up top

I think Trent fits in that old de Bruyne role when City played a 433. Play him as the right midfielder and get a good DM in. He can produce them same passes that he and Gerrard did, whipping the ball into the box from a inside right position.

I'd go for Adam Wharton from Palace. He seems similar in style to Thiago, not quite as skillful but less injury prone.

To be fair the last part applies to pretty much every player.

Mind the bit before would likely apply too in all fairness.
