I find it interesting what position is more important. For me, a centre back or #6 are top two priorities.

I’d be very surprised if any players we want aren’t currently playing in tournaments in Germany or America.

Given Yoro currently on international duty, probably why we’re most linked with him.

Slot undoubtedly will have less clout than Klopp.

This could be a positive thing - nobody knows yet.

Apart from Guardiola and Ancelotti, everybody would have less clout than Klopp.

Of the coaches we were linked with, I only think Alonso would have anything like approaching the clout of Klopp.

As you said, nobody knows how it’ll go. We’ve got the vast majority of things right over the past 9 years. Obviously we have new faces in the structure, let’s hope we’re as successful.

Doesn't the tweet you posted say the opposite?

We need a top midfielder badly. It could be in any of the positions for me tbh - the preference being a deep lying specialist - but as long as he is absolute quality - first 11 week in/out, it would improve us the most.

The "re-build" in midfield has been a flop. Mac Allister or Szob may come good and both are better options than we had but both are far too inconsistent.

My interpretation of it was Yoro is deemed too good to miss out on / not try our best to convince him and if we were to sign him, it wouldn’t alter other plans.

Mac Allister may come good, he was one of our best players last season!

I do take the point on Szobozslai & Gravenberch though. I’m not writing either off, they have both showed signs of their quality, both young lads and have loads of time on their side.

I think we’re all in agreement on the #6, finding somebody significantly better than  what we have is the issue.

At times he was. Alot of the time we were not very good and neither was he.

We need a guy we can count on to be really good when the team is not. A true difference maker. Obviously those are hard to find and do not come cheap.

Completely independent of my own follicle situation I can ell you it’s widely known that baldy men have massive willies and fuck like German machines.

Men are bald because of all the additional testosterone they (including me) carry.

So boring real Madrid. Obviously you see why players want to go to Madrid but christ they bore me, players who join them bore me. The Original state backed wankers.

To be fair they are buying excellent younger players these days. How many of their first eleven were bought in their teens or early 20s?

Yes, of course it's pretty unlikely we'd want someone below the level of those national sides. I just took that tweet in terms of "priority" is we're looking to solve issues in other positions before we get to centre back.

Think this is quite interesting. Sounds like Yoro is an opportunity we don’t think we could pass on, we want another centre back as well.

We have 4 CB's with Gomez so it's not a pressing concern in that sense but it would not take much for it to become a need and I think everyone knows that.

And yeah, Yoro is someone where it should be compulsory to be interested if you have the chance.

Despite only watching him for the first time last night, I’m fully of the opinion we should be all over this…

He wants 300k a week

People moaning they want rid of Diaz because he doesn't score enough. Mo scored more goals before Xmas than this lad has in 2 years. He might end up being a good finisher but his wage demands are far over what we'd offer him or what he deserves

I mentioned him as a potential to replace Mo a while back but discovered he plays on the left so maybe he could be lined up for the left side. Only going on one game tho’.

I’m sure there can be some sort of middle ground found on his wages.

These are Williams stats from the last 2 seasons…

…I agree his goal scoring isn’t  ground breaking but last seasons assists is very good. He has more goal contributions than Diaz has season (8+5).

Williams is about to turn 22, so is 5/6 years younger from Diaz. I don’t know much about Bilabo, I doubt they are as good a side / have the same quality of players as us. I see Valverde is their coach, so the football wouldn’t be massively different to what we play (or going to play under Slot - measured possession, full throttle press).

His performance last night looked like he has a high ceiling and can go onto be a genuine world class player.

I’d be surprised if we saw big increases in Diaz’s numbers while he still plays for us.

Our midfield last season was a massive upgrade on the previous season, in every respect.  If that's your definition of "a flop" you need a new dictionary.

I think it's a difference in specificity or type.

From a fans point of view it's we have 4 centrebacks, you can't rely on Konate we need a starting centre back yet within the club they seem to be looking more specifically at a left sided centreback who can back up and, in an ideal world, inherit VVD's position while in the short term doing a bit at another position to give more options for game time.

It's why the majority of links over the past two years seem to have been players with some ability on the ball and some form of positional flexibility while being predominantly left sided CB's (Colwill, Guehi, Pacho, Inacio, Calafiori, Hincapie etc).

With Konate, Quansah and Gomez all able to play the right sided role and Van Dijk being an almost ever present the view may be that while succession planning is needed it's not the single most important position to upgrade and with the spectre of Yoro hanging over them it's a position they're willing to let play out over the summer instead of jumping early.

Whether that risk works, or is worth taking, remains to be seen but given there hasn't been a run on CB's in the market so far they're probably fairly comfortable in doing the ground work and letting the market play out while they see what happens with the French kid.

If there's suddenly a run on their left sided centreback targets that priority might change.

A few probably watched him in Spain’s last two games for the first time. Struggles currently to hit a barn door with a guitar.
