TLW Deathpool 2024

Sad loss that as his name is pure nostalgia. Loved him at Italia 90. Had never heard of him before that, like with practically everyone else in that side. Definitely a case of shining brightly for the briefest of periods because he was never as good again, especially when he started re-growing his hair.

Another tough one. I loved the unmentionable the most between circa 1979 and the 1990 World Cup. For all sorts of reasons, Liverpool apart, it wasn’t quite the same after that.

RIP Toto. Thanks for the memories, brief though they were.

We're around the same age mate so totally agree on all that. Footy for me was at it's best in that period.

Dame Maggie Smith gone at 89.

Absolutely perfect in... just about everything, really.

A Private Function is up there with my all-time favourite films; everything you need to know about the paralysing grip of the British class system is there.  As is a pig with diarrhoea.

I was about to say that whilst I of course know who she was, I don't think I have ever watched anything she's been in.

A quick scan on IMDB and I was wrong,  as I've seen Sister Act, didn't realise she was in that.

Wow.

You need to watch...

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

Murder By Death

A Private Function

California Suite

Talking Heads

Hook

The Lady in the Van

... and some wizard stuff, if you like.

Maggie Smith is fucking brilliant in everything I've ever seen her in, but in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie she is absolutely out of this world. A performance never bettered, equalled perhaps on occasions, but never bettered.

And overall a great film that everyone who loves film should watch.

It's the accent, she makes 'sex' sound like the things they bring coal in.

And yes I have nicked that.
