This is what Labour are up against and why I still don't think it's a foregone conclusion

A 'journalist ' lying through her teeth about what starmer said.

Is that the same Beverly Turner who used to be married to Tory candidate James Cracknell?

Fucking hell, Victoria Derbyshire is taking names on Newsnight!

Tearing in to Claire Coutinho, really having a go and backing up with facts.

Effectively calling the Tories out as liars.

More of it please!

Everyone who can should share that as widely as they can

Not sure mate.

Apparently she is some presenter on gb news

That's how they control the narrative though

Get a lie out there and the fuck wits will believe it

She's one of these right wing, conspiracy cranks that seem to get churned out of a Tory 3D printing factory in the Midlands in their hundreds.

As much as i despise the right wing and their press - you have to admit they are much more organised when it comes to hammering home whatever message they want to hammer home.

Just look at these front pages:

The number of people who actually watched the debate will be tiny compared to the number of people who will see those headlines.

It’s something of a calculated risk I suppose.

They know their nonsense will be unpicked in certain quarters after the event, but they rely on the power of the platform (and social media bots) to hammer home a message that will land with enough eejits and generate a few more ticks in their ‘box for twats’ as a result.

It’s a strategy that works. A strategy based on lies, but a strategy nonetheless.

Very unlikely to be enough to stop Starmer booting Sunak out of his gaff, but might start impacting the kind of majority Labour have to work with. That alone makes me darn annoyed.

Claire Coutinho doubling down on the £2k, claiming it was signed off by a senior civil servant. To be fair, the presenter did ask if she was lying but didn’t push that very hard.

Not ten minutes later, Henry Zeffman chips up on the sofa with a letter from that civil servant which refutes the Tory claims. It also states that they were warned not to use unsubstantiated numbers.

They were lying, they knew they were lying, they do not care. See the headlines, their plan worked.
