Unless there's a turn around on the proportions of the last week (and some more really), but in the other direction, it won't have been a challenge. I don't think that's a tough argument to make. I don't believe we challenged for it last season and we classed ourselves out of it after about 32 or 33 games and finished closer to the top than arsenal are now.

If arsenal finish half the distance from us they are now, it will still be hard to put up an argument they challenged because of how far behind they were. For me to give at any a challenge any credence, they'll need to close the gap sufficiently that when they leave anfield in April, they still have a chance.

We were top with 8 games left! That's definitely a challenge. One that fizzled out horribly, but we'd been top or thereabouts all season until the late collapse.

Arsenal have never really been within touching distance of us.

If we win the league, the last things I will be thinking about are points totals or fucking Arsenal.

I'll be far too busy celebrating all Summer.

Yup. Fuck Arsenal, their legohead coach and the so called fans many of whom are just keyboard warriors. They can cry through the entire fucking summer.

We could coast to 83 points as the job has been done & priorities shift to the Champions League.

Then we'd hear how we are shite champions only getting 83 points.

87 it shall have to be then.

If anything, COVID was bad for us as we only picked up 17 points from our last 13 games. City picked up 24 from 14.

Yeah after the Atletico game and going out of Europe we really had nothing to get up for after the restart. It was very much going through the motions.

Can't remember the exact days but only 3 teams have topped the league this year. We have for over 140 days, City did for about 40 days and Brighton did for about a week. Arsenal haven't been top at all and wint be. They were 2pts off the top week 5pts and 7pts by game week 10, the gap stayed at 7 through game weeks 15/20/25. They pretty much matched us after that but the gap was made when they had a full squad bar Odegaard. Gap was 9pts when Saka got injured and Maryinelli and Havertz only missed a couple of games. The injuries where the final nail in the coffin, nothing else.

I'd argue if they were picking up more points we likely would have been more switched on and not drew so many since January

I am stunned to read Arsenal have not topped league at any point this season, because I am absolutely certain that I have read in and heard from the media all season how they are the bestest team in the whole wide world ever.....

Maybe not from Man Utd supporters though (Yeah right!) 2000/01  80pts: 2002/03 83pts: 2010/11 80pts.

Agree, we certainly challenged last season.

Stars definitely aligned for us this season and we fucking deserve that for those ninety point runner up seasons. We"ve been by far the best team and we haven't been great. That's why for me anyway, it was a confident call, the others were simply nowhere near good enough to claw back that early lead we carved.

Their treble season they got 79 points.

16 games they dropped points in and still won it.

We got 79 in 1990 and dropped points in 15.

Imagine this place if it had existed back then!!

I love the narrative all over twitter etc from all those spewing because we are going to win the league that it is all down to Arsenal having injuries and abu dhabi being shite.

The same morons who of course laughed their cocks off when we had injury problens or when we were "shite"

It’s laughable , Arsenal have never been top this season but they were every pundits darlin’ along with Abu Dhabi.

The narritive of this being the season they (were supposed) win it has been some bad ear aids.

They've challenged City once.

I get they would've fancied their chances but a lot of it has come across that they had a divine right to win it this season. Strange.
