Alexis Mac Allister

Good player, but serious holes in his game.

He's not for us in a Slot midfield, I dont think. Ideally Grav is where Macca is. We need a six who can properly control, be available, basically what he wanted but failed to get. Macca should be fighting with Dom but he's got nowhere near the engine or speed to do what Slot wants in that role.

He does the classic South American shithouse thing of faking injuries all the time, which people have cried about that we don't do enough of, and then we have someone that does it and he's "soft". He's almost never actually injured,  he's far from soft.

He's in crap form right now though.

Mac Allister is a good player but if this is a Slot midfield I'm not sure he fits in. Slot was talking about him in a double 6 or 10 for Brighton but he plays inbetween for us. He plays narrow left for Argentina. There are loads of good players who play for teams where they don't quite fit a system for whatever reason. Still very early but you get the impression that Zubimendi type 6 would be preferable for Slot and Gravenberch moving to the position Macca has.

Have people watched football before, genuinely? Players fake injury all the time. What's the big deal here?

The scoreline, the location on the pitch and the actual challenges. You do that to waste time, get a player sent off or win a penalty. He was down 3 times and only met the criteria once.

Not in his best form at the moment, I wonder if that injury he had at Palace is still agitating him?

Argentina play Paraguay (a) and Peru (h) next break, I wonder if we can get him out of at least that Peru game (they are 2nd bottom).

I take the point on him rolling about a bit though. It was the same v Forest, they wanted to break the play up and kill the tempo, it wasn’t the only reason, Mac Allister’s antics played into their hands.

the thing that's worrying for me with MacAllister is that I don't believe he's turned in more than two or three performances with us that are on a par with those that he delivered regularly with Brighton.  He was the sort of player that you'd think would be great for us - not a world beater, but tidy on the ball, a bit of creativity, and savvy without the ball.  This season he's been slow, careless in possession, unable to make any mark on the game, and too easily bypassed in the midfield.  I'm sure there's a confidence issue, but he needs to be taken out of the firing line for a bit - he's not worth his place in the team right now.  Given Szob's mostly indifferent form as well, it's become a bit of an area for concern.  Of course, the multitude of top class signings coming our way in January will sort this out.

This season he's not on his own on being wank with the ball. Quite a few of our players have been playing to a lower league level technically and need a boot up the arse. Maybe it's just too many games and football is taking a side step to running your bollocks off 24/7 but way too many of our players are having off days with the ball. Good job a few of them have that winners mentality Mo probably gets pissed off if the kids beat him to breakfast and he often does the most unspeakably dogshit things on a pitch you are ever likely to see and then boom magic. We should of bought midfielders so we can rest players and the quality not drop too much. As always.

why would you play an out of form unfit player carrying an injury when there are better options on the bench?  I don't think he's injured.

The Argentine coach himself said he was injured during the last international break and was training differently to the squad to try and get him through it. They still played him and so have we.

He was injured with a adductor issue in September before the internationals and had a groin problem during the October break. There's something up with him

But when he's offering nothing, why play him?  Even if he wasn't injured, he's not worth his place atm.  Risking further injury for nothing doesn't make sense.
