I seen a clip of Simon Rimmer talking about him and a conversation he had with him recently.  Rimmer clearly thought it was just a positive story about Slot but it revealed all sorts if you can read between the lines.

Trent said early on after a training session Slot pulled him aside and said he wanted to speak to him after they finished in his office.  Trent said he thought to himself “here we go, he’s about to tell me I’m the worst defender in the world etc” but was then surprised as Slot had lots of clips of defensive situations where Trent ahead done well but he wanted more so gave some advice on how to turn his body slightly more like 8% and it will help him defend better in these situations.  He said to Rimmer it was amazing because it was all positive and he came out feeling great.

Straight off the bat from a Slot side of things he’s clearly aware what a sensitive man child he has on his hands which may be something he’s been warned about or he’s got a good intuition of.  I obviously think Trents a complete bell end who needs pulling on his behaviour in games but I don’t know the day to day ins and outs of training but the fact that the manager didn’t pull him up on it and from the off worries me a bit.  He doesn’t seem to care about throwing Quansah under the bus though so maybe there’s a Trent moment coming soon.  It’s not as urgent if Trent’s leaving though and it would be nice to see Madrid have to put up with babying him.  Can you honestly imagine him switching off and just standing by there while Barca swarm over their defence?

The second thing is Trents own attitude to the general opinion of his defensive ability.  “Here we go again” instead of can the manager improve me, where am I going wrong, is walking around like John Wayne effecting my ability to react while the games going on?  He clearly past caring about criticism constructive or otherwise.

Finally he seems completely oblivious to Slot babying him.  He’s deluded to the point he seems to have lost any social awareness as well.  If the manager did that to me I’d be embarrassed by it.  He’s clearly “handling” me and I wouldn’t be telling fucking Simon Rimmer about it anyway.

It would only be natural for Slot to man manage VVD, Salah and Trent slightly differently this year to if they had three or four years left on their contracts.

I was pissed off with Van Dijk jogging for Saka’s goal on Saturday but I don’t think you can argue with the effort and commitment either him or Salah put in.  Those 2 also clearly want to stay at the club.

Trent so obviously wants out.  I wouldn’t be bothered about ruffling his feathers and if I was to guess I reckon the rest of the squad would be happy about it as well.

It's a fine balance for a new manager though, especially when his greatest achievement so far is getting this job.

I absolutely love Trent but his performances recently have been dreadful.

If it wasn't for the fact we are picking up results Id say he'd be under a lot more scrutiny.

I wouldn't say his performances have been dreadful but his all round passing has been really poor the last 3 or 4 games Obviously a big part of his game is not as prevalent under Slot but the usual strongest area of his game has been by far his worst recently.

He doesn't look like up to much in games where he's not able to freely pick out any pass he wants, the amount of nervy clearances from him when he's under the slightest bit of pressure just to get the ball away instead of looking for a give and go or using his physicality to come inside and brush any challenge that may come, he isn't interested. Though his 1 on 1 defending has improved a fair bit this season and the good old dribbled past % stat would back that up.

I'd still be looking at Frimpong in the summer, if not before. Thought he was their liveliest player last night, showed himself to be their main outlet on a number of occassions and besides the odd step in from Tapsoba, pretty much holds the entire right flank on his own.

He’s been very good defensively this season. Less so on the ball, but his defending has been mostly excellent. Perfect example from the first half yesterday when he was one on one with an opponent inside the box facing a dangerous cross from our left. Got there first, body between the ball and the attacker, brushed the latter off and shielded it safely out of play. A very dangerous situation taken care of by some brilliant defending.

Everyone else was working their balls off to cover the extra space and he was strolling around like he's not arsed.

His head is already in Madrid, the fucking space cadet.

We worked so hard with 10 men and I thought he let the others down.

Hard work and effort is the very simplest basic thing to get right. He had a 10 yard start on Robinson and he just couldn't be arsed running with him. It was a lack of desire and happens too often.

I'm presuming they've offered him an increase of sorts. If he refuses it, they should genuinely ask him if he's off or not. If he wants out, then sell him in January and at least get 15 million for him. Fuck letting him go for nothing.

Bradley is more than good enough to replace him, and if needs must, we can buy a replacement next summer. You won't get someone with that passing ability, but you might get someone that will run back at least
