After the club's business in the summer, I don't blame any of our top players for wanting out. We finished third and sold a load of players without replacing them & also brought in an unknown quantity of a manager.

There's no real ambition there to win the title or the Champions League again, he can go to Madrid & win them both whilst living in a nice sunny country.

His legacy being alongside people like Kenny, Ian Callaghan & Gerrard will be out the window but he's not going to give two fucks about that, only we care about that stuff.

Just caught up with Trent taking his dog for a walk down Knotty Ash high street and personally wished him the best at Madrid next season. He was about to say something but I cut him off by saying his legacy was safe with us, he didn't really seem all that bothered.

Not sure who's the youngest and loneliest out of you and 3 Stacks.

I don't really know what a tarnished legacy means in this case, you can never erase or damage what he has achieved with us.  But I do know that if he leaves on a free many supporters will see him in a different light, and it will always be a footnote on his LFC career.

He’s arguably already our best right back ever with a league winners and champions league medal. His legacy is already in place. I don’t want him to go at all and hope he stays but I wouldn’t begrudge him if it was Real Madrid.

Phil Neal might argue with that.

Was in Anfield Road hospitality on Saturday. Phil Neal was doing the meet and greet, most young lads didn't have a clue who he was. 8 titles and 4 european cups, 73 years of age and he's stuck doing that. Fairly lousy I thought.

Yeah, not only did we get money for him we also got Tony Nonutz in with the bargain.

What were we complaining about!

We were trying to sign Owen to a contract, the local journos in FSG’s pocket have not even claimed we’ve started talks let alone offered Trent a deal to turn down.

To be fair he might enjoy it as there’ll be plenty of us arl arses who would still love talking about the times when he became a true great.

As far as legacy is concerned, just because someone says it will be damaged doesn’t make it so but in the same way someone saying it won’t isn’t right either. How he’s seen in the future is very subjective and each fan has a different take on it. One thing is true though that he won’t be as popular with fans overall if he makes the move.

Do you honestly believe that?  He talks like an AI bot about everything.  He thinks he’s saying the right things without realising how much of a complete cunt he looks.  This latest interview is peak Trent.

He walks around the pitch like John Wayne and clearly thinks the club is beneath him.  He’s run his contract down because that’s clearly the only way he could end up at Madrid.  They aren’t paying 100m or whatever it would have been to take him a year or so ago because he’s a right back.  This isn’t some decision he’s just going to make overnight next summer.  It’s been years in the making and I doubt he gives a single fuck about Liverpool.  He’s more Michael Owen than Steven Gerrard.  He will want the post career adulation though like they all do.

You’ve had a downer on Trent for as long as you’ve posted on here you utter bellend. Pretty much everything in that post is bullshit, coloured by your hatred of the lad.

Fact is, Trent is one of the most talented players ever brought through by our academy. A talent so good that one of our greatest ever managers picked him for every match he was available. A player who has broken multiple records for his position and made the PL team of the year on multiple occasions. A player with the passing ability of Gerrard, and has had the two primary pundits of the current era in the PL eulogising the lad for reinventing his position and being able to win games for his team from there, in other words a phenomenon.

If Trent leaves I will be gutted. Firstly because I love watching him and understand he’s a wonderful player. Secondly, because despite him not really owing the club anything, he would be depriving us of the opportunity to collect a sizeable transfer fee for him. Thirdly, because I don’t think the club he’s most likely to sign for would really appreciate him. So the best thing all round is that he realises where his bread is buttered and stays where he’s loved (apart from by weirdo’s like you).

Good, sane post on Trent. I would add fourthly, we are not getting anybody close to replacing him and his output from there. So many people saying get rid, we have Bradley, Bradley is better. Bradley has had a promising start but I think I'd be safe in predicting that he won't ever get anywhere near the levels of Trent during his career.

Who has ever said Bradley is better?

Do you actually read on this forum? Go and look at a few match threads when Bradley first came through. Plenty were saying Bradley is better defending and good enough going forward. Plenty were saying he should replace him, why would you replace him with somebody inferior? Many were saying Trent can go, we've got Bradley. You might have actually been one of them.

What a player. Regardless of whether Trent stays, right now, Neal is in our greatest eleven. That may change if Trent commits to us and stays.

You would be surprised at how the legends enjoy these events. They make a nice few quid, tell stories of great times and get a bit of well deserved adulation, as well as watching the game. They might not have the financial might of Trent, but a very nice existence.

Loads of people said get Trent out and they'd be happy with Bradley on this forum.

Better at defending etc

He was shit last night but he hasn't had much game time so that doesn't mean he's shit. He'll never get close to Trent though. We have one of the most unique players in the world. A player maker from right back, never seen that before, probably never will.

He's 26 in a couple of weeks, entering his peak, to lose him now would be devastating. If he gives his best years to another club, that would hurt.

People saying it doesn't damage his legacy...well if we turn to shit in the next few years, that opinion will change. He should stay and not turn his back on the club when it's clear we need him the most.

I think that a solid defender is enough to do Trent's role as we are trying to shoehorn him into a role that is a bit unorthodox. I dont think Trent is as effective as a midfielder as a marauding full back. His strength is getting those spaces out wide which are not available as much inside. Trent might not agree but I think Klopp and Slot see him more as a FB in our system.
