Easy to argue the opposite to that. There was a period of a couple of years where it appeared we were afraid to take Mo off. His attitude of wanting 90 minutes to fill his boots was lauded across the board.

The Trent stuff is much more interesting though because of the lad coming on. Are we trying to show him we have a replacement ready to go? It could have easily been Kostas for Robbo but we withdrew Trent again.

It's a fair point, from an outside perspective a cynical eye might think this is a bit of mid-negotiation brinkmanship, from Trent's side he might consider bringing on Bradley to be the same thing from the club.

Ultimately they just need to grow up and realise that he was always going to be phased in as much as possible. Having said that, fully expect Trent to play 90 next weekend.

Loads of players hate being taken off, Trent is clearly no exception. But he's been subbed for Gomez many times before, so this one seems a bit different. It's off the scale in terms of reaction in part because of his contract situation and in part because lots of people think he needs to be nice to the new coach. Maybe he wants to look unhappy as it's easier to leave. Maybe he feels undervalued because he wants to stay, but doesn't think the club are doing enough. The reality is, he's human and like everyone there's times he's going to be unhappy and plays an emotional sport in the spotlight of millions. These things are going to happen. It's how he reacts is what matters.

Or it could just be that he was the only one sat there with a titty lip on him during and after the game. I dont think he's held to different standards - Mo was getting shit for doing the stink eye towards the bench a couple of seasons ago. If anything, Trent has been given alot more leeway because, if we're being honest, his general attitude and deneanour has stunk for a good while now (not all the time I should add, but enough to make it noticeable) and it's the fact that he is an incredible footballer that keeps most on side.

That's fair enough, but that was my point. Mo was getting shit on this forum for his attitude. Trent is now getting it for the same reason. It's not a local thing - if the attitude wasn't there, nobody would be saying anything.

Yeah, I totally agree mate. My post you’re replying to was a response to an earlier comment about him getting shit because people don’t want a Scouse lad to do well

Reaction is fine but there is a time & place for it. New manager, 100% start to the season, Euro in the summer, limited break, not had a full pre-season, United next.

There should be a context, especially being the vice captain. He was a twat on Sunday, there is just no two ways about it.

i think you're just saying what i said. there is context. except i am willing to say when you get subbed, you are allowed to be emotional. the stuff about united next i am not arsed about, it was a week away. players will react from time to time. the fact he is vice captain doesn't make him less emotional. in fact in the context of he wants to be here, he thinks the club undervalue him, perhaps he doesn't really feel like a true vice captain and it makes him more emotional.

for me this is nowhere near the sulk and tantrum Salah threw last year because he didn't start a game.

This type of comment always makes me scratch my head. Particularly from someone actively engaging in a football forum and various topics

The stuff about him taking heat because he is a local lad is absolute bullshit.

Imagine a foreign player pulling the exact same and the reaction he would get.

Hell imagine the difference in the conversation if a foreign player had walked through half a season.

The fella has enough in his locker to be a world class player - the thing that will keep him from becoming that is attached to his neck, not the end of his right leg.

I always said he should get that birthmark looked at

Not many jobs pay you 100k a week and are ones where millions would swap with you in a heartbeat. Add the money most of those people contribute towards the club,ie your salary, in merchandising,tv contracts, match day tickets and so on. I think they are entitled to be a teensy weensy bit critical at times.

He’s always been a bit stroppy. Combined with his insane passing ability I wonder if he has any French in his heritage.

I think that often the opposite is true. If you show that effort and commitment on the field,Callaghan,Thompson,Gerrard,Carragher, then off field misdeeds are often overlooked. Trent has been forgiven a lot more than many.

I can't think of anything that those four did that needs forgiving, other than Gerrard flirting with Chelsea and being in a scuffle in a club.

I've no idea about Trent's charge sheet, either. This week, like many players before him, he wasn't happy at being subbed. What else is there?

I remember reading that he wasn’t afraid to ring in early changes at Feyenoord, not sure if that’s on a Mourinho level but it suggests he doesn’t have the patience of Kloppo, which if he manages to keep the players on board could be a good thing.

14 players were sold in Klopp's first transfer window. A few more were given until January.

Personally I think it goes both ways. But I think there's a zero tolerance of local lads not giving a fuck or thinking they're above us, which is the main thing chucked at Trent by dickheads.

Fixed.

He was getting grief on here a few weeks ago because there were pictures of him having his brekkie and not smiling.

The shitness of modern football.

Agree. I liked Slot's reaction when Trent sat and did his strop for the cameras; going and sitting next to him, it wrested the initiative from him, in terms of the image, and showed who was boss.

Just watching Match Of The Day and remembered that I thought Trent looked like a fella who knew he had pissed a lot of people off last week, and was desperate to make amends. He was really on his best behaviour.

He’s started the season really well, so let’s hope he knuckles down now and those Boston fools realise we won’t forgive them if they let him leave without doing them very best to keep him here.
