If I was Arne Slot I would be relishing the prospect of finding a solution to the so-called problem of integrating Trent and Nunez into the side.

Two class players, both potentially if not actually world class, devastating at times for club or country but with critics galore.

Solve that and Arne will be well on the way to instant success

I think this is the interesting thing with this season. Klopp has left at the very start of a cycle - even though Trent has been here years, the thing about where he should be played has become a real thing over the last 2 years. But it's not just those two is it? There's so many. Can he continue Bradley's progression, same with Quansah. We hear he got players on the pitch, so can he change konate from some part time lad and a bit inconsistent to the next step and a top class defender? Gravenberch, Elliot, Jones, Dom have all showed things, but you have to think we want more from all of them. Diaz, can we get more end product from him rather than running down blind alleys. Can we toughen up gakpo, mentally and physically so he can influence more games and step towards top class. And back to the konate thing, can he get Jota on the pitch more. And then what can he do with senior players like vvd, Salah, robbo and to some extent endo. There's so many players that look like they have more to give. It's a great opportunity for Slot.

I will be gobsmacked if the new coach gets more out of players than the old one did.

It's about the arc of the players though isn't it. Last season was probably the best we could see from those players at that time. But there's a few there will be in their 2nd seasons as young players or 2nd & 3rd season at the club or in the PL, on the normal arc of improvement through your 20s.

That was generally klopp's ability. He probably won't be as good as klopp at that. But in the short term, he may not need to be. This is the benefit of klopp refreshing the team before quitting.

And one other thing that might make a huge difference. He may not get players to their maximum quite as effectively as klopp, but he might get them on the pitch more often - if he manages that, it will make an enormous difference for us.

How would he, as an individual, affect that in any way? Is he bringing in a team of experts that are markedly better at keeping players available or are you suggesting there will be a different training regimen to accomplish that?

We've lost people on that side, so someone is being replaced. And supposedly one of Slots notable things at feynoord was keeping players fit. So he has a track record, although maybe with a different medical team. But if he's not thick (which I assume he's not), he'll have made efforts to understand what they were doing and why it would be successful. And maybe it's not even about what the medical team do, but how he treats players around training and putting them on the pitch when they have minor issues or are recovering from previous ones. Or he doesn't flog them to death in pre season (and many years for weeks beyond) like klopp did. What is clear, as a club we have not been great in this area.

3 of our last 4 season have been plagued with injury. It's not hard to think he could improve on that.

Can’t lie, I’m starting to get a bit concerned this isn’t sorted yet, the noises today that Bellingham has had a word in his ear over moving to Madrid (fair enough, we were all hoping Trent was doing the same in Qatar) and him allegedly wanting talks over his role in the side, tactics, signings, his confidence in Slot etc makes it feel uncertain.

VVD and Salah are less of a concern as, although they still face plenty to give, they aren’t in the prime of their career, Trent should be nailed down for life.

This kid simply ain’t no team player anymore if it’s true he’s trying to dictate where he plays on the pitch. That’s the fucking manager’s job. Do as you’re told, put 100% in. That’s all we want as fans.

Every man and his dog can see that Trent isn’t a central midfielder.

Smacks of a player wanting to make it all about himself. If there’s any truth to all that he can go and sit on Madrid’s bench.

Not really fussed if he stays or goes - actually thought we looked better with him out the side, the annoying aspect would be getting nothing in return but if it to comes to that so be it, que sera sera.

Just nonsense talk. Same as we looked better without Salah. Go the whole season without Salah and Trent and see where we end up.

Agree. He’s a great footballer and we should be ensuring he stays.

I don't care who leaves Liverpool fc. There have been plenty of great players who either left for pastures new or retired. Whether it's Trent,VVD or whoever it's just yet another business deal and the club moves on. This is how it should be. I'll lose sleep over far more important issues than greedy footballers.
