Klopp: I am completely committed to turning around this current situation

Jurgen Klopp has emphatically declared that he is at Liverpool for the long haul and ready to take the club to new heights in the future.

The Reds have had a wretched campaign littered with performances unrecognisable from what they have delivered in seasons past along with a long list of injuries meaning that continuity has been severely lacking.

In truth, Liverpool have battled to get going from the very start of the season only showing fleeting glimpses of their very best and their current position of tenth on the table is certainly a true reflection of their campaign to date.

It was hoped that a unprecedented pause to the season due to the World Cup in Qatar would see a upturn in form, but if anything it has gone the other way with Liverpool collecting just one point from four league games in 2023.

It has led to suggestions that Klopp has run out of ideas and has nothing left in the tank, an issue that led him to walk away from his last job at Borussia Dortmund.

However Klopp said that this current situation is very different as the Mirror reported.

“I will not go and I cannot go.

“This situation is totally different for different reasons. At Mainz it was a career step as well, at Dortmund I was really exhausted in that moment. But I am neither nor, in this moment. Neither (career) nor exhausted. I am completely here, and I have too much responsibility (to leave) - and I want it. And I want to sort it again.”

“Yes, it is a difficult time, I don’t enjoy it. But if people believe in me, then we have to go through this together because then when we come out we will have great times again."

Anyone who has observed Klopp for a period of time knows how he wears the emotions on his sleeve and it is that kind of personality which feeds into the psyche of his players.

But it is in the calmer and more reflective moments where Klopp believes good times will come again for this squad.

“I am completely here, I am completely in this, 100 percent committed. Maybe the difficult times are a bit too long already, maybe for me as well, but I knew it would be a difficult season (after last year’s quadruple chase).

“If we win I feel like I was part of it but if we lose I feel 100 percent responsible. I was always like this in my life, so you can imagine how big the responsibility is at the moment, and how I feel now.

“And we will do absolutely everything to get through this and prepare the very positive future again.

“I am really emotional after we lose a game, but apart from that I am completely clear and can do the job I always did. And I am experienced enough to know we can get through this.”

But if there is one thing that Klopp cannot accept, it is any criticism of his backroom staff who do not have the platform to respond.

“I just don't like it if you go for the wrong people - go for me, that's fine but don't go for other people. I get an awful lot of money to face these situations and my life is fine.

“Don't criticise them (who can’t respond) - have the balls and go for me, then the confrontation can happen. If they were not helpful or inspirational (my staff) they would not be here.

"I'm 100 percent clear on that. Nobody is here because they are my friend or whatever, it was never the case and never will be the case. They are here because they are best in class in what they are doing.”

The kind of quote that comes just before someone walks away...

Hope he doesn't but it's a massive job he has and there are some whopping tools needed. Will he get them?

Is this section about the Pearce thing? And if course the story run on ssn by Melissa Reddy?

Klopp's commitment to the Liverpool FC cause is never in doubt, nor is his wish to turn things around.

What is in doubt for me now is his ability. He's proven (even ignoring his achievements with Mainz and Dortmund) that he had the ability to overachieve, but you can't do it forever.

I really personally think, and it's a very humble opinion, that he has nothing left to give. I hope he yet again proves me wrong and we not only stay up, but beat these malevolent shithouses tonight, and power up the table, but I can't see it.

I don't doubt Jurgens commitment, it's the commitment being shown by some of the players that worry me.

This is a good point. There are players in that squad you'd have backed a few years ago to never slack off and never let us down, and they're doing exactly that!

The players are mentally exhausted after years and years of playing every game like a cup final. In fact many games worse than a cup final as a draw was catastrophic. We just need a few new fresh minds who haven't been through that collectively and hopefully they have some fresh legs too that don't fall off.

I’d prefer Rafa if I’m honest, but I’ll accept Klopp.

Bloody hell!

Decent comment, fair play.

As long as he has the appetite and the backing he'll turn this around.

It's been an awful season with injuries and with poor form, but with players starting to come back there's still a chance to salvage something.

Time to turn doubters into believers again Jurgen.

I admire your optimism, not something I've ever been blessed with.

It's FSG's modus operandi, according to my son who follows US sport a little. They still have a sort of US mentality to our club where they invest heavily to achieve and then wait a while to do it again after that investment has had it's worth, playing side at least. Something to do with the draft picks they do and restrictions on transfers and spending seems to be inherent in them. No idea how true this is but it would explain some of their thinking. They have put far too much trust in the footballing authorities and that is a bit naive.

Didn't they do something similar with the Red Sox?

Reddy would have been in her element during Shankly's fallow periods: 'Sources say that Ronnie Moran's tendency to shout at under-performing players has made him an unpopular figure with many in the first team squad, while the apparent passivity of number two Bob Paisley is frustrating those eager for new ideas on the training ground. There are also concerns about the tea ladies, the kit man and the absence of winners on the pools in spite of the Moores family's involvement with the club...'
