I agree, I said I wanted in the summer and thought even with the injury he'd be worth it. Would have offer legit competition to Trent but I don't think the club really want that as he's going to play every week he's fit

Stroganoff almost ruptured an artery at one point.

How so?

We still need a centre back and possibly another midfielder.

The young lads have stepped up, no doubt and Bradley looks the part even though it's early days.

You never rest in football, even more so now Jurgen is on his way.

Personally I think we’ve made a massive fuckup in previous windows that won’t be fixed this summer.

And the noises coming out of the club suggest no war chest, no big spending, I’m just not convinced we will do what needs to be done and we will continually be playing catch up from now on and the inconsistent performances we are seeing will become the norm.

in short I’ve lost faith in our owners, well what little I had in them, and Jurgen to an extent. It’s all changed, there’s no drive and passion to succeed like there once was, the successful strategy we once implemented is no longer followed, the targets we are linked with don’t make a lot of sense, yep it’s just another nail in the football coffin for me.

Transfers were something I used to get excited about, now every year it just fills me with apathy and I hate it. It shouldn’t be this way with a club of this size and stature but it is.

In this window that just closed or the next one? Quansah then 5th choice?

Ideally this one but thats not going to happen.

Gomez will now be a utility player after this season, covering several roles.

VVD is getting on (although still excellent)

Then you have Konate and Quansah, who still needs development. Matip is probably done at this point and needs replacing.

The emergence of Quansah and Bradley, plus Mac Allister being a top class 6, have made all the difference.

The Fabinho thing was still badly handled and you could feel it at the time that the club were scrambling. It's often on a knife edge between disaster and success in football but everything came up Liverpool.

AH i guess we must be doing well enough to drag these posts out.

Here's a hint - we've won fuck all yet and our boss is off including the staff in the summer.

Then we will see how smug your retort is. Last year we didn't hear a peep out of some of you and we performed poorly and rightly ended up in Europa. I still think theres something off with Jurgens decision, but thats just me, we may find out in time.

As ive said, the owners and the owners little defenders wont have Jurgen to bail them out in the next few years, the guy is a bonafide one off, so we will soon see how ambitious they are.

PS as an aside, i'd say the owners got lucky in the summer. Certainly lucky enough the Saudis were about to pay good money for two has been's and fortunate enough that some of their last minute deals paid off.

Mate, just admit you were wrong and our transfer business last summer didn't come back to bite us - you can be as doom & gloom as you want to, but the purchases we made (and didn't) have obviously borne out to be pretty much all correct.

The one thing I do have some questions about (and I was 100% wrong about this as well, to be clear) was Caicedo. Whoever suggested we should offer 105m for him needs sacking. He was always a "pretty good" player that for a host of reasons started to be hyped up as better and better than he actually was, leading to the insanity that happened on the day of his move.

Watching him closely the other night was instructive. I know it's Chelsea and they have a number of players who aren't really performing but Caicedo is right at the top of the list for me. Just looks an absolute shell of the player he was at Brighton. If we had paid 105m for him it would have been a COLOSSAL mistake!

It's not about being right, I thought Salah was gone and Kane would stay.

Does give some hindsight into why we made certain moves.

Caicedo is the wrench agreed, Might be the case as has been said on here that it was never a bid that was meant to be accepted.

they were a summer too late though.

we were complaining about the midfield the summer we signed Nunez but were told by all that we didnt know what we were talking about.

Then the legs fell off everybody and they were FORCED to do something last summer.

No-one really thought we’d done enough in the summer window to be where we are now right?

We had that poll and most people were 6 or 7 out of 10. Maybe the odd 8 from the optimists.

The 22-23 season maybe made us all forget that Jurgen is a genius at getting a team playing together. Plus we’ve had players getting back to form and stepping up almost across the board.

Mate, anyone with half a brain knew the business would come when the players actually left. The complaining was about something that wasnt going to happen.
