Well one thing we can be sure of, if we're entertaining the idea is selling Salah, is that we can afford to buy his replacement before letting him leave, what with that £111m Caicedo money burning a hole in our pocket.  We can be sure of that, can't we?

I honestly sometimes don't understand your posts. Mo Salah has been one of the greatest goalscorers in the history of our club. A club which has won more than any other English club and has had amazing forwards generation after generation. Of course Salah will be difficult to replace, this is not championship manager. He's one of the finest players of his generation. And the window closes next week.

Wonder if that ties in with lovren deleting his social media post calling it lies earlier.

He will be tough to replace but it feels like it's happening.

I'd resigned myself to it next summer.

If it happens against Klopp's wishes (and Salah's not pushing to leave) he'd have every right to walk.

Yeah, that’s my point.

if he is allowed to leave, then everything the manager had built over years and his transition plans have been vaporised.

If it comes down to money, Klopp won’t have any say in that. What’s the point having a great manager if you can’t plan ahead?

FWIW I reckon this will happen next June.

What was so hard to understand? I thought it was all there. Even gave you a caveat.

Your first sentence was "replacing Salah won't be difficult". It really doesn't matter what you say after that to be honest. The idea he is easy to replace is mental.

From what's being said, bollocks or not, Salah has apparently agreed a deal even though the club hasn't, so it's coming from his camp not the club's.

Well it could be coming from the Saudi club, media, PIF etc.

Yeah, I think I'd concluded he would go next summer, we'd have the deal squared in advance and it would allow us time to find a replacement. But I also recognise the club will undoubtedly have a number they'll sell at and Salah himself could potentially push for the move if the numbers are so big. I just thought he would want to cement his legacy here and play a part in klopps 2nd side. It's not like the Saudi offers are going anywhere.

I had a terrible hunch we'd sell Mo and bring in Chiesa as his replacement at the start of the window.

The 52m they are apparently offering should just about cover the Italian.

This was posted on here during the Euros when he looked very good (might have been by me I can’t remember) and I’ve loved him since. His injury fucked him a bit but he’d be great in the PL

Ok Barry, let me ask you some questions. You rate Darwin Nunez. I assume because you think he is a good striker, he will at some point start scoring lots of goals, correct?

If Darwin Nunez starts scoring lots of goals, isn't that going to replace a lot of his production and then whoever we replace Salah with just has to do their job? Is that logical to you?

If and it is a very, very big if IMO this happens this window, then we better either get the money in almost immediately or FSG will have to spend before the cheque clears so to speak - as literally 7 days is an extremely short amount of time to replace your best outfield player.

It took weeks to get the Henderson and Fabinho deals done - The Saudis may have a few weeks to dick around here, we don't.

I await the last day drama where Salah forces a move and we get lowballed for 52m by the Saudis, spend none of it because there is 'no value in the market' for a replacement then proceed to run Doak in to the ground as his replacement and then we emergency loan Andy Carroll in.

Replacing Salah wont be difficult. There is an abundance of talented forwards and creative players of pretty much every kind on the market every season, except basically pure 9s and traditional wide players. If we have a plan to replace Salah when we do it and it isnt forced upon us like the Fabinho sale this summer, it will be relatively easy, in terms of finding someone good.

The issue will probably be tactical setup, which is different. We have bought 4 individually talented forwards in different ways over the past 3 years and I have argued, and Ill stilll argue, we havent made it work collectively.

Aside from Haaland who was bought for £52m* - hahaha, these are the attacking players bought by Premier League teams in the past 15 months.

A lot of money spent, and very few, if any would find it easy to replace Mo Salah. Anyone that thinks it would be easy is dreaming, especially with the money being quoted for him tonight.

They’re meant to be offering Mo £1m + per week tax free. Unfortunately that likely means Mo will agitate to leave. If he goes I don’t expect a replacement, I just can’t see us getting a deal done for whoever we would want with just a week left of the window. I’d start getting your heads around it because I’ll be shocked at any other outcome.

We’d need mbappe leaning on things immediately.

I get the interest in Mo from their pov, but why are we the only club being systematically cannibalised?
