They are one of the most aggressive teams in the league. Very energetic and physical. The type of team that can exploit our lethargic midfield. We need energy in this game. Hendo and Thiago will probably need a rest after last night. We’ll likely go with:

Keita-Fabinho-Elliott

Fabinho needs to be at his best for this one.

Don't think I'll bother watching if that's the midfield.

Our midfield three need to play with the energy of 4 players. They're barely scraping the energy of two this season.

We basically need a new engine.

I expect Thiago to play.  Him with Fabhino and Bajetic will be fine, providing we sit a little deeper.  We should do this anyway, knowing how Brentford play, which is essentially launching the ball over the heads of our FBs into acres of space, with loads of runners from deep.

Thiago started against Man City, Villa and Leicester. 3 matches in 9 days. I hope he has enough in his tank to start again on Monday, but I think it’s unlikely.

Spot on this, we should defend deeper against these. Probably against most teams actually, the way we’re equipped at the moment. We’re very good on the break, and should be able to punish them properly.

They’re absolute dogshit but have midfielder that can run.  Which means they’ll walk through us with ease and crest plenty.  Of course this will be everyone’s fault except Teflon Thiago, our slowest midfielder.

The fact they’re dogshit, like most of the league means Salah and Nunez has a good chance of out scoring them.

Konate has to come in for me. We need his pace and physical presence.

Frankly, as left field as it is, I wouldnt be averse to sticking him in the 6 position either. Matip has been playing well, you are not dropping Virgil so why drop the couple in form players for those bang out of it/struggling to have an impact.

Drastic/could be absolutely stupid but could it be any worse? Our problems seem to be really really basic. Inability to keep up/track runners, stop people running through the midfield. Long term we want someone who has the tackling ability of Essien and the guile of Modric but in the short term I would settle for someone that could do those basics, add some presence, pace, stop average players taking the piss and give it to the players like Thiago that are pretty good at the other side.

Does it have to come from the club?

Klopp was pessimistic over it wasn't he?

I thought he’d need to have been registered by 2pm today? I’d assume the club would have confirmed it or not.

Have to admit, I wasn’t hopeful over it. The FA are hardly renowned for their proactivity on such matters.

He was:

Dec 29: 'There might be a chance for Brentford, but I think not really, to be honest. Because obviously, the first of January is a bank holiday, and then all the papers. We will not rush it anyway. So, probably Wolves.'
