I had a similar injury on the top of my foot but mine also severed a tendon.

It was very scary as a 15 year old wigging my toes and this little random white piece something pops out the wound.

I had to be careful around infections as well. I got a small one, but then again I was playing on rat and dog shit infested Sunday league bog, not a pristine bowling green surface.

I didn’t play for like 5 months. Sure Mac Allister has better care than I did and it doesn’t sound as serious.

Malingering twat.

Could do without this given the other absentees and the fixture list...

Jürgen Klopp confirmed Ryan Gravenberch suffered a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s goalless draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

The midfielder was withdrawn after 61 minutes of the Anfield clash and will now undergo further assessment to determine the severity of the issue, though the manager is hopeful it is not a serious one.

Klopp told his post-match press conference: “We will see. They told me directly after the game it got worse during the game, so that means it was not ‘bam’. He felt a little bit and didn’t show immediately.

“We hoped it would go by, [but] it didn’t. There was this really intense sprint with the ball which ended on the 18-yard line with a collision.

“I hope it is not that serious but we have in the next 10 days three more games, so I don’t know if he will be part of them or one of them. We will see, we have to make a scan.”

Did not know Doak was fucked....

Pepijn Lijnders has provided injury updates on Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, Diogo Jota and Ben Doak.

Gravenberch was forced off in the second half of Sunday’s draw with Manchester United, while Mac Allister and Jota are continuing recoveries from earlier issues.

Doak, meanwhile, is set for a spell on the sidelines following an injury suffered while representing the Reds’ U21s at the weekend.

Read assistant manager Lijnders’ update to Liverpoolfc.com on the quartet below…

Gravenberch

“We thought there was really something, he came off during the game and you saw immediately when he came off what that did to the team as well, he was playing really well. Especially against these man-marking sides he plays unbelievable. But he had a scan and it’s only DOMS, which is fatigue, so that’s a really good thing. He will train hopefully today, let’s see where he is. We have to be careful of course because that’s a sign. So that’s a good one.”

Mac Allister

“Alexis is progressing well, he doesn’t have pain anymore, which is a good thing. It was worse than we first thought, but he is progressing well, no pain. Let’s see if we can progress him.”

Jota

“Diogo is doing ball work on the pitch so that is getting closer and closer. But always with hamstring injuries you have to be careful, we always say when they come back give them another two or three days for sure.”

Doak

“That’s not a good one. He teared his lateral meniscus, which needs surgery. That one will take [a] longer time. He is young, he is a fit guy, he is a positive guy so for sure he will come back stronger, and we need him to come back with the same fire he has with the ball, how he was. He can take time and we will wait for him.”

I don't think doak changes a great deal to be honest. Tough for him, but he's not getting many minutes anyway from now till the end of the season. Personally if he hadn't had this injury, I'd have looked to loan him to a top championship side pushing for promotion. But maybe that's out of the question now..

The Mac Allister is to be expected. Once klopp started talking about it going through muscles and to the bone, it felt like a 6 weeker. It fucking sucks though, because he hasn't been out the team long, but you sense we're missing his quality on the ball and his speed of thought to make things happen quickly. It's a skill endo just doesn't possess, he takes an extra touch or two all the time. His defensive game is maybe better, but I think in the last 2 games you've seen why Mac starts over endo.

Harsh. The certainty of a yellow card that Endo provides to those who bet in a cost of living crisis is immense.

Oh yeah - I don't see Doak as a real first team option yet.

Just a shame for the kid.

Seems like nearly all our promising kids get a pretty major injury.

Mac Allister is a real problem - and a big miss.

Hopefully it is not much longer - but if he has a bone bruise it was always going to be a few weeks. The update today makes me hopeful he might be in contention at weekend though.

You think he's in contention? I thought ljinders ruled him out till at least after Newcastle?

I am working solely off this:

Mac Allister

“Alexis is progressing well, he doesn’t have pain anymore, which is a good thing. It was worse than we first thought, but he is progressing well, no pain. Let’s see if we can progress him.”

Ha!

The article even mentions how that  contradicts what he said earlier!

This news contradicts an earlier update from Lijnders which saw him claim Mac Allister was “progressing well” and “doesn’t have pain anymore.”

Yeah, but just because he doesn't have pain doesn't mean it's safe to play on does it?

Ah who knows! Just more shite news on the injury front. Could really do without it and with us carrying 2 midfielders we can't get on the park we are teetering on the edge with our midfield options.

At least Gravenberch seems to be OK though.

Gravenberch though is only worth 60 a game and for 15 of that he's fucked. He doesn't seem to be building any stamina and for a lad that hasn't even played 1000 minutes yet this season, being fatigued to the point of thinking you're injured is a bit worrying. We need to get more minutes out of Jones, but we're holding him back for whatever reason. He's a lad who needs a run of games, we've got to give them to him at some point or he'll never contribute. That red card has really fucked his season.

Aye. Jones put together his longest run of games at end of last season and lo and behold his form steadily improved up to point where towards end of season he looked as good as anyone for us.

That is why for once I was ok with him playing international shite in the summer and only having a short break - he hadn't played loads of footy last season so did not need a long break and it IMO helped him maintain rhythm...

But sadly he hasn't been able to carry it on this season because it has been stop start again for him - early injury, then the suspension, them another period out with a problem - we need him to play and to stay fit and get rhythm.

Yeah, but you sense they're holding him back right now. I worry he's got another problem they're nursing him through. If there are no issues with him, I'd start him Saturday instead of Gravenberch.

Worth remembering that Gravenberch got fucked losing a year at Bayern last year. Wen't to the U21 Euros and lost preseason with us. Its not really a surprise he's knackered.

I get that..it's the fact he doesn't appear to be improving his stamina that worries me. It's been half a season now..is he now just fucked until the next time he gets a full preseason? Either way, it makes him look to be someone who should just be playing off the bench until he's right, because just playing in its own right doesn't seem to be getting there. We get 45 mins a game out of him, the opening 30 and the first 15 of the second half.

Fab, Robbo and even Endo took time to get up to Klopp speed. None of them were on the back of a gap year either. He looks a physical specimen so I don't doubt we will get it together and become a beast for us.

I'm not getting into his technical ability or if that can translate to a klopp side. I'm talking about the fact he's not fit enough to play 90 mins. He just doesn't have the stamina. As I mentioned earlier, it's a worry after so few minutes this season he's left the field at the weekend on 60 minutes thinking he was injured, but in fact was just fatigued - fatigued after 60 mins? But by that point in every match he's just a passenger till he's subbed. Again, it's not an issue if he's showing improvement, but he's not. He's been pretty much the same since his first game.
