No spreadsheet this year, just good ol' posts in a thread...

We've seen a number of youngsters confirmed to be heading out on loan already, so here's the current list:

Goalkeepers

Jakub Ojrzynski - Radomiak Radom (Polish Ekstraklasa)

Marcelo Pitaluga - Macclesfield (Northern Premier League Division One West)

Defenders

Conor Bradley - Bolton Wanderers (EFL League One)

Billy Koumetio - Austria Vienna (Austrian Bundesliga)

Adam Lewis - Newport County - (EFL League Two)

Midfielders

James Balagizi - Crawley Town (EFL League Two)

Matteo Ritaccio - Charlestown Battery (USL Championship)

Conor Bradley is an Northern Ireland international isn’t he?

He is.

Surely he could do better than League One?

Possibly; I believe that the club are looking to make loans for our full-backs with teams that play with a back four rather than wing-backs, and preferably with teams that are dominating games at their level, which better resembles our style of play, both in terms of attack and also having to do most of their defending against counter-attacks, and it's a reasonable assumption that Bolton are going to do that this season.

There's not a lot of Championship options, especially if you factor in the number of team that don't want to do business with us, either at the board level (e.g. Watford, Hull, Boro...), or due to the manager (we won't be rushing to do business with Swansea this summer), or else can't take on loans because of their financial situation (yes, Reading are three weeks from bankruptcy again), and Scotland doesn't have any that are obviously better than League One either, barring the obvious two, neither of whom would be appropriate.

As for loans outside Britain - you can't just MAKE players leave the country if they don't want to.

The jump from 23s football to senior football is massive, so it makes perfect sense to me that a teenager is not thrust straight into the upper echelons of senior football, regardless of their international experiences, which again are completely different to the rigours of playing 2/3 games a week at senior level.

I am a little surprised that Aberdeen didn't ask to take Conor on loan to replace the outgoing Ramsay, as it would have made perfect sense for both parties.

That said, Bolton is a good move for Conor. Keeps him close to us and he has the opportunity to play a lot of games at just 19 years of age - likely more games than he would have been allowed had he moved to a club in the Championship. In the last 10 games or so last season, Bolton did switch up from a back 4 to a back 3 and vice-versa depending on who/where they were playing. They were indeed seeing a lot more of the ball than their opponents based on the stats in those games, so hopefully that trend continues in this coming season.

Here's Conor's international career thus far:

Liverpool goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has joined Stockport County on loan until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 20-year-old has made the switch to the newly promoted League Two outfit on a temporary basis, having spent the second half of last season with Notts County in the National League.
