Best player on the planet getting a quick photo with the Egyptian king

He appears to be carrying Salah there.

Love this because we hardly ever get to hear him speak or talk about how he's feeling, what he's thinking etc.

We generally have to make assumptions based on body language and twitter rumours. That's a great interview, just makes me love him even more.

It's good to see his English has improved too.

If he can turn it into a genuine run of form until the end of the season it'll help a push for the title and add a few million to his sale in the summer.

What he can't do is let it be another Newcastle, Forest or Brentford last season where all the relief happens and then it's back to business as usual.

this from the Guardian report today;

"Núñez doubled his league goal tally for the season. He resembled, as ever, and at all moments, a footballer being chased around the pitch by a swarm of invisible bees."

It was over the 4 minutes, Nunez’s adrenaline was obviously pumping through his veins, it was going to make zero difference to the result, for once, common sense prevailed.

Tell that to Arsenal fans.

"Red Card" was trending last night. No need for me to explain why.

Another jobsworth on another day wouldn’t have taken that view…like when Amad took his top off in the last minute of extra time in the FA Cup game at Old Trafford and got a second yellow, absolutely pathetic.

Were jobsworths really relevant? Nunez has literally just come back from a suspension. He celebrates his goal by making a point of getting yet another card. I'm sure fans would have been happy just to see him score, and maybe punch the air and tap his badge and shout a bit at the corner flag. I really don't get the 'I cannot possibly convey just how happy I am without removing my shirt and getting a yellow card' gesture, especially as Brentford still had enough time to cancel it out, but when you're just back from accumulating too many yellow cards, it seems, at best, well, moronic. I'm delighted he scored the goals, obviously, but christ the guy seems up his own instagram.

He’s the most passionate player on the side and he’s been getting pelters from all sides lately. He’s just scored a very likely late winner and he’s reacted instinctively. I doubt he’s scored and thought “oooh if I play my cards right I could get sent off here woooooh”

Brilliant for spending money so you can neg someone - what a life you have, you must be so proud.

I also doubt the 'passionate' Nunez thinks those thoughts. What I also doubt is that he thinks the thoughts that any sensible professional player would think at such a time, which is another matter, but maybe one that, on reflection, any sensible person wouldn't be moved to neg anyone for, which I guess would have spoilt your fun.

He’s great for the squad and the togetherness. He gives everything and 100% cares. That’s got to be amazing for building that squad mentality needed.

Plus he can win a few games a season, which he has done. He won’t ever be our first choice number 9, scoring 20+ goals per season, but he is energy and drive and useful to have around.

He’s thick as fuck with loads he does, but his overall contribution is worth keeping around, especially as a 3rd choice striker

That wasn't the ref's fault though as he had no leeway there. You HAVE to produce a yellow for a shirt off celebration, you can give whatever you want for a foul. Amad shouldn't have took his shirt off when he's already on a yellow. Darwin kept his shirt on for the second goal for that reason. At least I hope so. He might have just forgot to take it off!

Even I'm not going to argue with that bit in bold. I would add though that he's also really intelligent with loads he does too, but because the perception is he's not the brightest bulb in the box (which is true, but that's part of the charm as there's a child like naivety about him) that often gets overlooked.

His off the ball movement to find space and create space for others is elite, and his decision making is generally pretty good when it comes to playing in team-mates.

He does do some proper daft shit though, usually needless fouls or occasionally taking wild shots when it's not the best options. We saw pretty much all of the above in that cameo yesterday (barring the playing in the team-mate, which we saw a week ago for Jota's goal).

I don't get it either, I don't see why they feel the need to take their shirt off when they know its an automatic yellow. I've never understood it and I never will, but then I've never scored a goal that meant so much so I have no idea how I'd react. I'd like to think I wouldn't do that though, as it is stupid.

That being said, that law needs scrapping now as it's utterly pointless. What harm is there in a player doing that? Stupid rule, should be fucked off. Bet the refs think so too, as they're always the bad guy when they have to produce a card that none of them really want to produce.

Whatever you think of Nunez, he'll always be the guy who took on members of the Cali Cartel while wearing a sports bra.

Funnily enough I was thinking about that just a couple of minutes ago and was going to try and shoehorn it into a post. No need now as you've taken care of it!

You’re absolutely spot on there actually. Whether it’s his natural football IQ, or something he has learned along the way, he is constantly switched on and is top class at spinning, turning, stepping and bolting into the right spaces and areas. Never one who’d get labelled with standing and waiting for a ball to arrive to him.

As I say, mate - he’s a keeper for me all day long

He's frustrates the fuck out of me but he's a proper character, I think it's likely he leaves in the summer but I'll probably enjoy him more at another club as his performances will have zero impact on our results (bar if he plays against us).
