The main thing now is what kind of player should he be replaced with.  Will it be someone like Cunha, who is the half 10 half striker, someone like Marmoush who is the half winger half striker, or the similar bigger athletic striker profile like Sesko.

I think a similar profile is useful because someone who can provide a big moving target for Salah would seem ideal, but not sure that Slot really values it. Or maybe Slot just thinks Darwin is shit.

Cunha is not really a striker though, or certainly not a good one.

He has flourished this season when Wolves have got an actual striker in, when he had to take up those positions himself he never really impressed.

Cunha has scored a lot more than usual so far this season, but mostly wonder goals from distance.

I think he had three of the nominees to goal of the month on Match of the Day for November.

I posted this 10 months ago in early February.

The same points still stand.

We have a striker with more yellow cards than goals, so far he has failed to score in 15 of the 18 games he has played.

He has contributed with an assist that won us a point against Arsenal and he won us 3 points against RB Leipzig, that’s it. So far the season has been much of the same, but the main worry is that he is not improving, he is regressing.

Oh yeah I forgot he started every one of them games

This data clearly shows that if you play Darwin more than 65 minutes in a game he is massive odds on to have a gola contribution.

Isn't that what's frustrating? He was an eye test darling against us and he is a stats darling, yet he is actually a bit shit. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but here we are.

You'd play Cunha at the very least alongside two wingers who are goal threats, and you could play him with another forward in a 4-2-4. Cunha was just a name anyway. It's more about the profile and what kind of player you want.

Our heralded  transfer nerds at the time lost their heads for a moment on this one. Benfica must have been perplexed with the whole package we offered

Isn't the story that Nunez was not a stats-nerd signing and in fact the boffins had massive concerns over him?

Isak, Cunha and Joao Pedro are similar profiles and also the profile I think we should be looking at. I doubt very much Isak will be available so from this league anyway, I'd prefer Joao Pedro over Cunha. I think he has more strings to his bow in so much as he's played a bit more as an out and out 9 this season and he's decent playing wide. I like him but not sure on his injury record.

I wouldn't really count Isak as that sort of player. Joao Pedro is, definitely. It's players who can play 9 and also second striker/10.

I don't really know what you would call Isak. He has played a bit on the left, but he is mostly an out and out 9 who is just good at football.

Isak is a 9 but he's also very good at coming deep. I agree he's not a 10 but he can do 10 type of things.
