From my seat at the back of the Kop, it certainly looked like it. A few of us commented on it.

I’m not writing him off this season yet, only a fool would. Look at the improvements we’ve seen in Gravenberch and Diaz so far. I sincerely hope Slot can soon start to get improvements out of him, if he has turned it round come May, there is no future for him here.

I see Sesko has a release clause that can be activated this summer for £55m. Openda has an £80m release clause that can be activated in the summer. Vlahović seems to be in a bit of a contract stand off with Juventus, he will only have 12m left on his contract in the summer.

You still on the ale mate?

I just can't understand why a possession based manager can't get the most out of a guy with no football brain

Mystery

I said it all summer, I think the club forced Slot to have a look at him because we knew we're going to lose £30/40 million on him. So they hoped Slot could work a miracle. Someone should get sacked for that. We knew it wasn't going to work, we could have sold him and used the money to buy a better striker.

He's going to cost us points just like he did last season.

I’m not sure what you’re inferring, I hope he turns it round. This is Nunez’s 3rd season, so far, despite moments of brilliance and an infectious attitude, he’s not done enough.

He needs to sort himself out, we can’t be carrying passengers.

It's not all about possession. If you told Slot he is a "possession based manager" he'd make fun of you.

The problem is really that he isn't a threat in behind as much as he should be because he can't time his runs and he's not good in the penalty area because he's been a crap finisher. So what we're left with is praising him for making a square ball to Salah, for him to then provide the quality.

Disagree, look how slow we build up. It's all about control and keeping possession, not playing risky passes and losing the ball cheaply.

The problem isn't his threat or anything like like that, the problem is he doesn't have a football brain. He makes shit runs, he hasn't got great spacial awareness, he isn't calm, he doesn't pick out the right option. He just doesn't understand football at a high level.

Some of his positioning reminds me of Andy Carroll. He's often on his heels, not ready or just not near to where he should be.

Salah gave him a look last night that said it all when he played it through for him but just as he did Nunez came for the short one in to feet instead.

There's so much room for improvement in that area of the team.

It's more controlled than it used to be, but we are absolutely using the ball in behind, especially when teams press us high. He should have a space in this team if he can figure out how to not be a moron, but time is running out.

Having only seen him in the Euros that Sesko looks like the absolute Lidl version of Nunez.

No thanks.

In Nunez defence, I dont think he is caught offside even a quarter of what people would want you to believe.

According to Whoscored he’s been caught offside twice in our two CL games, he’s played 83 minutes.

In the PL he’s been caught offside once in four games, or 135 minutes combined.

I think he was statistically the most offside player in the league last year? Or maybe second.

He also missed the most clear chances.

That goal against Bournemouth though, that was a bit good wasn’t it

Yes it was, but Nunez will miss 9 out of 10 of those sort of chances. Last season told us that.

He's the embodiment of the cliché "a scorer of great goals, but not a great goalscorer".

Yes last year it was really bad, these are the top 50, I also had a look at Haaland.

We actually had 3 players among the top 12 of those getting caught in most offside positions last season.

Yeah we go direct sometimes, City and Arsenal seem to be doing this more too.

Not sure he deserves a space. He's had plenty of chances to show he is an elite footballer but he's never done anything where I've thought this is it.

Those two finishes against Newcastle were class and maybe that one where he went through and dinked it over the keeper.

But I've honestly watched his runs, he runs when the player with the ball isn't even looking at him and has his head down. He's never going to be good enough. He's shit. Sooner we admit it the better. Sooner someone with big balls at the club says enoughs enough you have to go, the better off we will be.

We carry all kinds of passengers at the club. Thiago hardly played for two seasons and was one of the top earners. We carry more than most do.

Thiago was a vital player in our push for the quadruple. He was in the PFA Team Of The Year.

He was injured last season and was let go.

Matip & Ox were injured a lot and got let go.

Unfortunately players will always get injured, we need to be better with managing them.

Being injured is a completely different injured to Nunez who isn’t producing enough.

Over the previous 2 seasons he's played plenty.

I like Nunez, although doubts are growing, I'm not writing him off. We need a lot more though.
