It just doesn’t look like that from the footage I’ve seen, but not saying I’m correct on it. Just looks like he’s waded into something at the end with tempers flaring and tried to deflect by saying he was protecting his family.

Speculating here as we don't know the facts yet, but yeah I think it was more about exacting payback for what happened to his family rather than 'protecting' them as a lot of what happened was when the families were on the pitch and out of the stands. They were having all sorts thrown at them though and I think there were still some players' families in the stands as they were all hanging around by pitch side rather than just getting the hell out of dodge.

I read somewhere that he went wading in after his missus said something to him, presumably about what had happened in there. You can see on some of the videos that those who had caused it all were all congregated near the front of the stands taunting the players and throwing stuff. That's the section where he later tried to lob a chair into (thank fuck someone grabbed his arm there by the way).

His little son had been in there and was obviously upset, so if he decided he wanted some payback then I'm not judging as I'd have probably done the same.

It has to be said that his fighting stance and pose was a thing of beauty. He looked like a character from Street Fighter 2.

Yeah, that’s fair enough actually. I think I’d be fuming too if someone had launched stuff at my little lad. Still think he has used that as his post kick off excuse a bit though. He gets involved whenever he can and I dare say there was an aspect of sour grapes from the Uruguayan players after getting beat. But as I say, I don’t know and may be well off the mark

Feels like a "and let that be the end of the matter" type statement to me.

That'll be because they were responsible for the ticket allocation and any punishment handed out to the countries and players, will turn the spotlight on them and their failure of organisation.

Of course you find it boring. You only get excited if someone has been skinned alive and has been chained to you radiator, you fiend.

I didn’t think I could like the fella any more than I did… and then he takes on the fucking cartel.

What a guy.

If he took on the cartel they’d know about it. This was just a warning.

The one thing that can save the situation though is that it’s the CONMEBOL who is the organizer and not FIFA, UEFA or the FA.

He'll probably get a medal for it then. Make it happen

Let's be honest none of us know how we would react in that situation, because we weren't there.

Starting to think he might get away with this as there's no appetite to be having a go at him, either by the media or neutral fans. Shit, I've even seen United fans reluctantly sticking up for him.

The fact that rival fans don't want him banned is the ultimate insult.

Imagine if Suarez had done that...

Anyone painting him as heroic for protecting his family in what he did yesterday are employing some weapons-grade cognitive dissonance.

There will likely be a correlation between the people swallowing the "saving his family" line and those that over-compensate on these boards for his poor play.

The level of over-compensation in the ground for his poor play by chanting his name when he wins a throw in should be a red flag for anyone.

He's not in Joe Biden territory just yet, but sometimes we have to believe our actual eyes.

I'd love to see the whole of the moon, but what I see is a second tier striker being elevated to a level just outside of his capabilities, like a Wim Weghorst, someone who tries hard and wants to do well.  Someone who draws fans to him as a cult figure.

And I've just seen a bloke out of control repeatedly trying to kick off with opposition fans.

And the bloke just happens to be my team's most expensive player, which once again puts the club in a difficult position.

You just support the drug cartels and I think that’s a disgrace.
