I like the lad but I was done after his point blank misses against Palace and Everton. He’s nowhere near a good enough finisher for a team with title aspirations.

Yep. He's has two seasons. Erratic players are fun and can be cult heroes but the top teams don't have them for a reason.

I wouldn’t be surprised or upset if he completed his Copa campaign with Uruguay, had a week’s holiday and came back alone without her and the baby and told us he was done here and there’s a list of clubs who his agent has sounded out and want to negotiate with us.

Edwards then has to decide if it’s better to move him on this summer or next, depending on what’s outstanding to Benfica and what we can realistically bring in for him.

You’d imagine Edwards would normally ask for our money back plus profit but with a new coach coming in wanting to shape his own team asap, he may compromise.

I really liked him but it just doesn’t seem to work, at least not at the level that he and the club intended for it too and just can’t see it happening - happy to be proven wrong of course.

I’ve read that his happiest time was on the south coast at Almería, where they’re buying or already have a place. She’s Spanish, too.

Does his basic fee work out at £64m plus add on’s?

Wonder if Atletico have a spare £55m knocking around, he’d love it there under Simeone, being the legs around Griezmann etc

Darwizzie was crap but kinell the US - sheesh.

Berhalter should have been sacked at halftime.

They fired Berhalter and then re-hired him after a not so extensive search. His brother is somewhere high up in the US Soccer set up as well. The whole thing needs restructuring from the top down but to be honest as long as people keep tuning in I'm not sure they give a shit. Berhalter the manager will probably lose his job but I don't know who would want it that's capable of turning it around to be honest.

Looks like he badly mistimed his jump on that and got ahead of the ball

Massive season for him, really needs to sort out his finishing.

That tweet though just shows how he'll never get a crack of the whip with some. It's just a chance players miss all the time. He's just finished a streak of scoring that matches his nations record for over 100 years. Then one miss and people are back on his case.

Kuyt did not suddenly become a clinical striker when he scored three against the mancs from a combined distance of half a yard.

Neither will Nunez for doing the same for Uruguay.

Until the goals outweigh the howlers then twats on twatter are going to post shit, it's that simple. You could do a highlights reel of Haaland misses just as bad as Nunez from last season but nobody gives a fuck because he scored more than enough to make them irrelevant. Nobody is asking him to be Haaland, just finish off enough to stop the noise.

I agree in theory, some of the sitters Haaland misses are incredible but when you're hoovering up Golden Boots you get away with it *glares at Salah.

Where I disagree is even if Nunez scored 30 next season the 'noise' wouldn't stop any time he missed an easy chance. The narrative is set on that front. It would get the more rational critics on side, but it won't stop the knobheads.

Yeah that's such a common miss, you see it all the time. Sometimes they hit the shoulder and go in and nobody says anything, but those are equally as shit as the ones that miss, they just got lucky.

He should obviously do better with that header but if that's any other striker on the planet it isn't being highlighted like that. That German lad Fullkrug or whatever he's called missed a worse one with seconds to go against Spain but no-one cares. If Nunez did that the internet would explode.

I agree a narrative has been set around Nunez but if he scores 25 this season I wouldn't give a fuck what misses got posted. If he scores 25 the following season it soon stops becoming a thing. He's always going to get chances, he's that type of player, it's up to him to finish them. I have my doubts but let's see under Slot.

These euros have been a great example of it all I think. Especially early on. It's been pretty low scoring, nothing happening, loads of big misses, but nobody mentions any of them. Because people accept people miss. Unless it backs up gobshites on twitter like with Darwin and nothing can stop them. The thing I think I find worst about it , is it isn't even normally fans of other sides. This whole narrative started and continues to be our very own gobshites. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

You wouldn't give a fuck because you're rational and want him to do well rather than to be proved right.

He's never going to stop missing big chances because it goes with the territory, they all miss big chances. Granted, he misses more than the others, which is why some degree of criticism is fair.

What I'm saying is if he gets that 'big chances missed' number right down, it won't make a difference to those who have made their mind up or just want to take the piss. Any time he misses one, it'll go viral.

I agree with what you're saying, it's the Internet and it's going to be like that forever. What I'm saying is that it won't matter what gets posted as long as he scores enough. You hit around the 20 league goals mark a season and he's doing his job, a few more and let people post what they want.

Darwin, and really anyone in a high profile position especially a younger person as they take it more seriously, needs to realize the internet is full of people who just chat shit because they're on the internet. It's the nature of the beast. The same ones blasting him for that miss would likely beg for a selfie and an autograph if they met him in person.
