He makes things happen. Good and bad, which is more than you can say about his competition, Gakpo.

Making bad things happen isn't what's required.  I like him, usually, but he was a fucking dead weight on Sunday and not much better tonight.

Gakpo isn't really his competition, because they're different types of player.  (For one thing, Klopp thinks that Gakpo can do a job in midfield; nobody would accuse Nuñez of that.) It's horses for courses.

Who are you on about in that first paragraph? It doesn't make much sense if you are on about Nunez.

Surely a striker is meant to make things happen, he was involved in both late goals on Sunday and then got a mad assist tonight after being a bit unlucky when the keeper saved that one on one.

He needs to be kept on every single game. Keep him playing. Dropping him isn't helping the lad, it reminds me of Houllier with Fowler. Dropped him for 3/4 games then moaned if he started him and Robbie didn't score.

Nah, he’s played a lot, and his pace and work rate are key to his game. Will need a rest now and again.

Better to bring him on when there’s more space and/or we need a goal.

Disagree Jose mate. I'd have him starting every single game. But then again, I'm a fanboy.

Disagree. He secured the game for us tonight when he came on. Blitzed Newcastle at their place too as a sub, and there are probably other examples.

But he's often stunk the place out this season after starting.

Only Mo will start every game, and if he doesn't start Nunez is an absolute nightmare for a tired defence.

He'll start against Palace, surely, and owes it to himself and to us to score a couple.

He causes more problems for defenders than Jota and Gakpo. His unpredictability and his work-rate is far better.

Definitely his unpredicatability, but the others aren't work-shy either.

Anyway, we're in a good place, as we're right up there with Jota injured and the other four having been less than great over the last month or so. Salah, Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo can all improve vastly on recent showings.

A striker is supposed to make good things happen.  For most of Sunday, Nuñez was snuffing out our attacks by giving the ball away, falling over or running offside.

When he's good he's very good, but this week he's not been good.

Fair enough, I've only seen the highlights from Sunday.

I thought he was good when he came on tonight & his hard work got us the second goal.

The best thing is (like El Rojo said) we're going well in three competitions, even though none of our forwards are currently playing at the top of their game. I pity the fool who gets in the way when everyone does step up a gear.

He did well tonight when he came on. But I'm getting sick of reading he was unlucky with his effort,or it was a good save. It's not unlucky when that is the normal outcome of him in front of goal. He's improved loads in other areas but he's a number 9 and misses far to many chances(even if he's likely flagged offside tonight). On another night he misses that chance and the ref gives Sheff Utd the penalty shout(it wasn't a pen) and we draw 1-1. He was lucky that Endo and Trent won the game at the weekend with two excellent finishes.

He did great with the second goal and was more involved that Gakpo, but these chances need buried at a higher rate, its a simple as that. You don't pay a club record fee for a striker not to be finishing big chances regularly, not if you want to be winning things.

Don't think we play to his strengths to be fair to him. But I doubt we ever really can, teams sit to deep for him to be played in over the top.

It was great that he won the ball back after losing it in the first place and then set up the last goal.

He should have set it up at first though.

I was in a late night meeting so I missed the first 35 minutes of the game, I thought it was a 20.00 kick off.

Think it's just the games on Amazon that are 19:30 and 20:15. They recently missed out on the next contract for Premier League games so hopefully they'll stop fucking about with the times.

We're a much better team with him on the pitch than we are when he's not on the pitch and it's far more enjoyable to watch. We were fucking dogshit last night until he came on and not for the first time this season either.

Of course he needs to start putting more chances away, but with or without goals he's still contributing a lot. People are bitching about missed chances like he's some passenger who is only there to score goals. The overall body of work is very good, it needs more goals for it to be great though.
