Salah was superb again tonight for about the fifth game on te trot. Always gave us an outlet. Always made the pitch bigger.

He worked hard, yes. He always works hard. But not in the wildest imagination is he playing well as a forward. By his standards he's just not. That wasted chance at the end, come on - stop being contrary for effect!

Not whatsoever. He isn’t a scoring goals but he’s contributing week in week out. More than hard work. A constant threat.

A mix of being caught off guard by how they approached it and a touch of complacency IMO.

The fact we fixed it and some is great.

It also may just help us - stop any complacency in upcoming games creeping in.

True that, should teach us a lesson or two.

Defo both. It will be a really interesting tie to revisit and analyze in the future. The way Villarreal approached it.

Yeah. It reminded me of a boxer effectively taking a breather round. Considering how long they stifled us for at Anfield, trying to slow things down wasn't necessarily a bad idea. Have to credit Emery, with a competent keeper things could have turned out differently.

Mo’s still well below par, but the opposition still often double up on him, which benefits others. I don’t think we’ll see the best of him again until next season. Crazy the amount of football he played in January.

That was as bad a first half from us as I can remember in quite a while. Though much was down to Villarreal flying out of the traps, our problem was that we were simply not keeping the ball at all. I don't think it was complacency or shell-shock, more that our lines of communication were very poor in that first half. It was rank frm us and Villarreal were worth their lead. In a way I'm glad we had that first half as it shows what can happen to a side even as good as this one if they aren't at the races.

Bringing on Diaz in the second half gave us an outlet out wide while still had the pace and directness of Sadio and Mo in attack. I think Klopp told the players to keep the ball better, because he knew that Villarreal had a couple of players running on adrenaline alone and won't want to waste energy chasing the ball down. Instead, the more we keep the ball, the more Villarreal will drop back, and the more space we'll have to play in. And so it proved as the whole unit pushed 10-15 yards further up the pitch, and our full backs were where we wanted them. From the hour mark, the game was more like the second half at Anfield.

We've earned the right at another crack at Big Ears, we're in the FA Cup final, we're still fighting for the league, and we've got the League Cup in the bag. It's better than anyone else has managed before us, and we have it within us to make it the most incredible season ever. We march on!
