Man Utd (H) - Tue 19th Apr 2022 (8:00pm)

Recommended Posts

I don't know why Atkinson - eventually - came back on for the second half. It wasn't like he was refereeing. The mancs were clearly going into GBH mode towards the end and he was still sulking because his stupid arm radio set was malfunctioning. Imagine if they'd actually crocked two or three of our players, with the run-in we've got. Always happens against the Mancs. In Klopp's first season Fellaini decided to elbow as many opponents in the face as he could (just for a change, like) and he got ignored, too, as usual.

Found somewhere to watch the match, and Salah’s just grabbed our second. What a fucking goal that is.

did anyone already ask @Caramac to grab a gif of Milner’s hands over his mouth reaction to the goal?

Utd players finally showing some bravery by approaching their fans.

The ones who were left.

There are some proper cunt fans in the league, but these are the worst. The only time you could hear them (from my seat in the Lower Kenny, where visiting fans often seem louder than the Kop) was when they were singing about Heysel & Hillsborough and - bizarrely - "where's your famous atmosphere?" And then half of them fucked off before the end, which I don't think I've seen any visiting fans do.

Shitcunts are miserable tonight and I feel fine.

Keane talks about the mancs the way I talk about this generation of lads.

"They're queueing up to get in the clubs, they've got no formal trousers on, no trousers to be seen, not a shirt in sight either, not even a Ben Sherman. How much is a Ben Sherman for pity's sake? Where's the pride? Where's the discipline?

"They cry a lot these young lads. About the environment and stuff. Okay we talked about the ozone layer in our quieter moments, but it sorted itself out eventually, you certainly didn't cry about it.

"They're friends with girls a lot of these lads too, I'm not sure I agree with that. There needs to be a healthy distance between young lads and girls unless they're courting, to maintain the mystery."

"They don't drink much these lads today neither. When we were going out, we'd drink anything. Carling, blue VK in the club there if you couldn't afford a WKD, just to mix things up. But either way the commitment was there. With these lads it's green tea and coffee. I tell you now, it's no wonder they're all depressed."

MEN player ratings. PEGI 18

David de Gea

Well beaten for all goals on a night he was always destined to be busy. Liverpool showed him mercy. 4

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Recalled to the team in an attempt to shore up the defence but he was reliably wretched. One of United's worst signings post-Ferguson. 2

Victor Lindelof

Had performed in competitive back threes against Liverpool in the past but not this time. Overwhelmed from start to finish. 2

Harry Maguire

Had the gall to claim he was still deserving of his place. Quickly showed why it is the opposite by being lured into Liverpool's trap. Could have gone off ahead of Jones and then lost Sadio Mane for the third goal. 1

Phil Jones

This was only his second start in two years and it showed. He actually looked hurt by the shambles before his half-time withdrawal. 3

Diogo Dalot

Started on the left and then switched to the right as United tried to get a tune out of either of the wing-backs. Off the pace for both first-half goals. 2

Paul Pogba

Started hobbling after Liverpool scored in the fifth minute. Soon hobbled off. Should not have started and should never play for United again. 0

Nemanja Matic

Was in a losing battle against Liverpool's imperious midfield, especially as he was the only specialist midfielder. 3

Bruno Fernandes

Only world-class if the stadium is empty. Against a world-class team, Fernandes was a passenger. 2

Anthony Elanga

Started in a front two and then moved to the right to accommodate Jadon Sancho. The game completely passed him by. 2

Marcus Rashford

Played on the shoulder and had one opening but failed to kill the ball. Wasted a one-on-one at 2-0 that might have made the match a contest. 2

Subs:

Jesse Lingard

Actually looked like he cared but had little joy all night. 4

Jadon Sancho

Had United's first attempt on target in the 55th minute and played Rashford through for a one-on-one. 6

Hannibal Mejbri

Late cameo, booked and ran more urgently than most. 5

Manager

Even with a depleted midfield, a back three was tantamount to waving the white flag and United posed no attacking threat. 2

Jurgen’s interview for people who missed it. We did as our stream stopped.

I mean, interview after interview....it's not like he's ever kept any secrets about how this team is so good.  If other clubs put all his interviews together and spotted the most used phrases, they'd have an actual template for success.

Well, long may their ignorance last.

Love how much his face lights up when Thiago gets mentioned.

Skipped a ride to watch the after match chat. I'll have a walk tomorrow as soon as the every touch Thiago video is out.

The quality of the goals right now is amazing. Champagne football in the stretch run of a season with all that pressure involved. Wow.

United played like a League 1 team we play in the early round of the cup.
