Agreed. I thought he handled Sancho with ease.

Yes. Funny how the commentators and reporters seem to suffer from collective temporary blindness whenever Trent demonstrates that he's one of the best right backs, defensively as well as offensively, in the league. They appear to think that, because a long ball into the space behind our back four means that Trent, like Robertson, has to chase an attacker is some telling sign of his alarming deficiency as a defender. It's so laughably biased a criticism that it ought to embarrass half-decent hacks, let alone England managers, but it never does.

Can never get my head around Neville's constant bleating about the Glazers. They've spent more money than city haven't they? Or therabouts?

Nobody forced them to spend it on shite.

The problem is the fans, no manc manager will ever be provided with enough good will to buy an Andy Robbo or take a Fabinho out the team for weeks to teach him how to play their brand of football. They will Veruca Salt that shit all the way to the First Division.

Ian Callaghan, what an 80 years young absolute legend.

Got on the 27 bus to Anfield to make his debut, went home after on the 26! Goodness knows how many years later, still looked spiritly enough to run rings round a united side made to look utter shite!

One of my favourite ever players.

Yes. And in this murky amoral world, who does he think can replace them? Nicer, kinder, more financially prudent people than the Glazers? I doubt it. He can't have it both ways - if he wants the 'Theatre of Dreams' back, with all of that vainglorious shite that he so happily swam along with in the past, then it's yet another of the bloody-handed billionaires who need to come in. So his strange and simple-minded Victorian-era cod-socialism, of which he is so proud, won't be of much help to him as he tries to navigate a way through that particular sewer.

Wasn't having a go at Trent, mind. Just thought he had a quiet first half, although that foot race between him and Mo to see who could lay it on a plate for Diaz for our opener had me chortle a bit. He did play Rashford onside though (I think) for the Manc's solitary chance from that ball over the top from inside their half. Had Rashford not bungled up his first touch, it could've easily been 2-1.

You are forgetting he booted the ball just past DeGea's head after the first gola. Quality that.

It's pure poetry that the Glazers are only there in the first place because Fergusson fell out with the previous owners over a race horse.

Ferguson who also anointed Moyes has his replacement and started the decline on the pitch too.

This was always the danger with Ferguson and the bit that's always overlooked. Undoubtedly a great manager, but an individualist at heart. What the likes of Shanks and Paisley did for a community. Ferguson always did for himself.

It wasn't their treble, it was his. Money always seemed important to him too.

Yeah, there was a segment about it on sky sports news this morning. United have the highest net spend of any team in world football in the past 10 years, ahead of even City and PSG. I can't remember the exact figure but it was over 900 million. Saw a story about the highest earners in the premier league a while back as well and about half the players on the list were from United. Staggering some of the wages some of their players are on. Makes the rebuild all the more difficult for them because they're basically stuck with those players until the end of their contracts because no way is anyone else offering those sorts of wages to those players. Neville and United fans can whine that the money has been badly spent, but they certainly can't moan that it hasn't been made available.

Incidentally, we were 14th for that period, behind Everton, Villa, and Wolves. Just to emphasize even further what an incredible job Klopp has done here.

Haha that as well, I thought it did glance ever so slightly off his cheek? Bit naughty that from Trent, things would've got very interesting had De Gea caught it in his kisser at full pelt. As play has stopped when the goal occured, would Atkinson send him off for violent conduct or unsporting behaviour?

Neville was properly embarrassing last night with his constant ranting and cheering on the young lad kicking out lads all over the place.

He, Keane and the rest of the Class of 92 are holding them back as well. They used to say Liverpool lived in the past, well they're paying rent.

Quite. I hate that kind of thing. 'Yeah, the lad's just running round, ignoring the ball, launching himself at opponents, but at least he's trying!' If that's all it takes, just whistle down one of the fat idiots at the Annie Road end singing about murderers. I'm sure they'd run around trying to break a leg or two. Sign them up on a contract. 'At least he was trying, officer'. What a load of crap.

And here are the comments he made the week - just one week - before, which Carra references, and which the slimy little rat tries to revise to cover his back:

"I was at the game on Saturday, Liverpool v Chelsea, and I said after the game - sometimes you can't put your finger on it [but] something's not right.

"Not bad. There's no massive spirit issue, or the manager falling out with players. Nothing like that.

"But there is something just missing. I remember going three years ago and thinking 'we [United] are in trouble'. Two years ago thinking, 'we are in serious trouble'.

"The crowd. The players. The speed of the football. The front three. Alisson and Van Dijk came. Oh dear. They are going to win the league.

"You can just feel it and see when something is right. It's just not there [now], that team has gone a little bit just over the edge.

"They are not the team they were two years ago. They are a good team by the way - they will win a lot of games. They'll go close.

"But I don't think they are there. There is something just not quite right."

No wonder they pay him so much. He's a genius.

Keane talks about the mancs the way I talk about this generation of lads.

"They're queueing up to get in the clubs, they've got no formal trousers on, no trousers to be seen, not a shirt in sight either, not even a Ben Sherman. How much is a Ben Sherman for pity's sake? Where's the pride? Where's the discipline?

"They cry a lot these young lads. About the environment and stuff. Okay we talked about the ozone layer in our quieter moments, but it sorted itself out eventually, you certainly didn't cry about it.

"They're friends with girls a lot of these lads too, I'm not sure I agree with that. There needs to be a healthy distance between young lads and girls unless they're courting, to maintain the mystery."

"They don't drink much these lads today neither. When we were going out, we'd drink anything. Carling, blue VK in the club there if you couldn't afford a WKD, just to mix things up. But either way the commitment was there. With these lads it's green tea and coffee. I tell you now, it's no wonder they're all depressed."

I wonder what his reaction would have been if Milner or Robbo had snapped him in half.
