Mainly because he was being too selfless and losing possession when he should have just took the shot on like any other number 9 would.

Klopp at half time probably told him to just fucking go for it and that's why we got a much more dangerous version in the second half.

ah, that explains it.

There were some quite amateurish moments at the back but that's expected with a back 4 that doesn't regularly play together. Love Milner but I think that game really caught him out for energy. No biggy, the guy is a legend and it happens to the best eventually. Could have done with Mo getting a goal to shake off the cobwebs. Overall it was relatively easy and prob a good thing that it was a bit tetchy at the end - keep them on their toes hopefully.

I stand by what I said. 2018 Firmino finishes the chance when the keeper's in no man's land.

Not a chance. He does exactly what he did today, creat a 1 v 1 where his fellow attacker has a much better chance of scoring. A Bobby in great rhythm, playing multiple games in a row probably completes the pass though.

Perform half as bad on Saturday and it will be embarrassing!

So, let's not do that.

Here's a thought; maybe we could start with our first choice XI on Saturday.

I'm not annoyed by that at all. We're in the semi-final of the European Cup and we still have a full tank for Saturday. Enjoy it.

So there are actually people reading meaning into the conceding of 3 goals, 2 of which came when we were clearly cruising and a bit complacent after going 6-2 up on aggregate.

We used a defence which wasnt even our first choice. Some people would never recognise context if it walked up to them to smack them in the face.

That was as easy a Quarter final tie as you're likely to have in the CL.

We rested practically our entire first team and never had to get out of second gear, to go through by a 2 goal cushion, without losing a game.

We really are spoiled right now, and yet all we get is bollocks about how bad our players are.

The same players who have put us in the brink of a never-done-before quadruple.

I'm not sure what you were aiming at, but you'd need to do more than merely demand it.

Just wanted to be sure if I missed some epic level of sarcasm in your initial post. Or if you were truly posting that initial comment in full seriousness.

I'm annoyed at the performance more than anything. We always look like scoring goals whoever we play but the defending was a bit Keystone Kops,or should that be Klopps? Anyway, the performances in the last two games have been really poor, with most of our squad getting a run out so no excuses for anybody really. I was surprised at how easily Alisson was beaten tonight given his usual brilliance too. A very strange evening indeed.

Spot on.

Some of the critical comments on here have been plain crazy. No sense of perspective whatsoever.

Context is no problem. Good teams should never be that sloppy, and shrewd fans should never be that indulgent. It's pretty sad when fans keep whining that the squad isn't strong enough, and then, when it's supposed to be strong enough, excusing a shite performance because it's not the first XI. That's context. Have a look at it.

You mean the type that challenge for everything and actually win trophies?

If only we could build one of those.

That's a shite performance? You are having a fucking laugh. They got a bit complacent because they were 4 goals up on aggregate. Give your head a fucking wobble.

It's easy to have a go, but it's not easy to turn that into goals unless the other team is spectacularly dozy. I've rarely wanted so often to shout 'WAKE UP!' at the team.

To be fair, they clearly know how to score, especially Nunez. Top scorers in their league, despite being 15 points behind Porto.

Not ideal to concede a few tonight, but Klopp is keeping a lot of plates spinning at the moment. A couple are bound to get the wobbles at some point.

As expected we created plenty of chances, even if we didn't go on to convert all of them. We put out a makeshift 11 clearly with the onus on getting the desired result as well as avoiding running some of our players into the ground. Mission accomplished, as the end result in terms of aggregate was never in doubt.

This forum has always been a bit volatile in terms of overreacting, but can't believe some of the negativity against our team and their performance. We're finaly competing on all four fronts, using our entire squad, and some on here are shocked that we're not playing flawless football. Baffling. We went from massive (1.24) favourites to slight (1.65ish) favourites with the bookies once the starting lineups were released. Our opponents had only this to play for, while we were juggling this game in between the most important league game of the year and an FA Cup semi, both against what many think is the best team in the world. Still people complain...

Our plan worked to perfection as far as I'm concerned. City on the other hand seemed to get injuries to both de Bruyne and Walker, arguably their two most important players when facing us. Let's hope it's not something bad, but sufficiently non-trivial that they are out of Saturday's game.

Just for the record, those complaining that all Bobby did was give the ball away first half, care to guess how many times he won the ball back or provided the pressure that led to us winning the ball back in dangerous positions? Compared to say, Salah 2nd half?

“The brink” is doing some heavy lifting there in fairness. Long, long way to go.
