Yeah, exactly. This Carabao win has proved to me that there's more life in the domestic cups than I was prepared to admit, but I don't have any problem whatsoever with the way the club has approached them; the CL facilitates the arrival of top players and the ability to compete for the biggest honours while these competitions (unfortunately) do not. I'd prefer a more balanced state of affairs, but with that said, one of the most appealing things about this run has been the extent to which the squad has been used.

I still think we could have given it a good go in 2019/20 if the EFL hadn't been such pricks with the dates.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the prize money pot for the carabao Cup is about £200,000 combined for all the semi finalists, with about £100,000 for winning it.

You get about 10x that much for drawing a CL group game.

I've seen that figure quoted extensively, but then the FL explained the reason for not making the Arsenal semis a single leg was that it would cost them nearly £2m, so something doesn't add up. The figure also doesn't include gate receipts which for our home games are at least £1.5 / 2m before being divvied up.

Yeah I was specifically talking about the prize money. Things like TV and gate receipts will be added to that too so there is more to it.

Kostas's feet have been cast in the new series of Inside No. 9

This man is great. If ever a player summed up how the club scouts a players character before signing him it’s him. He’s boss.
