He was bang on 100% right. This delayed or non raising of the flag is shite. I reckon if you look at their opportunities there was maybe 2 non offsides one being when drayhorse shanked his shot to Allisons left. So many pundits droning on about our high line giving Burnley chances.

Even LFCTV included some of these offside 'attacks' in their highlights package. And the likes of MOTD seem to delight in doing so - presumably to 'even-out' the action (whenever I watch us on that programme these days, no matter how dominant we actually were in the 90 minutes, it becomes a tight contest according to the way they edit it!).

If they show those incidents at all it ought to be in order to point out the failure to flag rather than to pretend it's bad defending.

The problem with this is that it gets the crowd up and gives belief to the opposition,  even though we're literally killing every attack.

Something has to he done about it.

I think it has the opposite effect. It gives the opposition players a false sense of belief that they are making headway when, in fact, they're just repeating the same mistake over and over again.

If the ball ends up in the net and the goal is disallowed the obviously the incident is relevant and should be shown. But if the attack just fizzles out then the whole passage of play is irrelevant and showing it just means they have less time to show other bits of the game.

Unbelievable on MOTD last night. They were saying how Burnley were unlucky and created loads of chances. Then on the highlight reel half of the ones they were showing were the eventual off side ones! Fucking gobshites.

It's not really relevant if they scored. Forwards often used to ignore the whistle and carry on for a shot. They'd either get jeered at by the crowd or the ref would book them. It was never seen as a significant moment. The fact the linesmen now let them go on still shouldn't mean it's a relevant part of the action - otherwise in some games they'd have to find space for several of these fake 'moments'.

Basically the only decent chance they had that wasn’t offside was the one they shouldn’t have had anyway as it should have been a penalty for Mo.

The one where Virge’s headed clearance went astray to Ben Mee, and he shot straight at Ali was the other one.
