But you'd have to get rid of him first, and as he rates him over the 4 people you mention, he probably won't do that.

I think it will all depend on money. What is offered for him by another club, what we are prepared to offer him on a new deal if the right transfer isn't forthcoming. These decisions are rarely football related and as his contract is up in 12 months and his agent was crying just towards the end of last year that he should be one of our key players, then I would suspect we're unlikely to pay him what he wants. So someone will have a spreadsheet working out the best solution on sell/hold/renew and klopp will deal with the footballing aspect.

Klopp rates Keita. That's the part people never mention.

Keita has been substantially better this season. I have no problem with him staying.

Unfortunately, that shot in Paris is going to go down with Lovren v Villa levels of infamy.

With the only difference in that Aspas actually turned out to be decent later. Keita, in my opinion is as lazy as he is shit sometimes.

I don't see him leaving though, at least not this summer. He will stay to provide more cover in midfield due to the 5 subs next year.

Klopp knows we need better in midfield. That's why he bought Thiago, tried for that Monaco fella and pushed Elliott in there.

Keita started the season 5th or 6th choice and has now put himself 4th just behind Hendo.

Elliott's ankle coming off had a lot to do with it.

If a new midifier comes in, he's fighting to come off the sub's bench most games.

I'm aware. But he was still a liverpool player. So it clearly wasn't 1 in 1 out.

It was defo 1 in 1 out. Just that it was a returning loan instead of a signing. But it's the same thing. One guy leaves, another who wasn't there comes in.

Except there was a departure last year.

We signed Thiago the year before, he was effectively the Wijnaldum replacement.

I feel like we definitely need to bring in a new midfielder this summer though.

I'm concerned that we will hold out for Bellingham next summer and not sign anyone.

I'm sure that was the case that we signed thiago the year before. I was just saying last summer wasn't a 1 in 1 out window.

As for Bellingham... I dunno, he's going to cost an awful lot of money and as far as I know wouldn't even help for the home grown quota. Is he that good that we would make him our record signing? He's only looked pretty ordinary when I've watched him play. I know everyone thinks he's great, but I just don't see us breaking the bank for him. And people always say "and that's your midfield sorted for a decade". Well that's only true if you sign him on a 10 year deal and we're not going to do that.

The thing about holding out for Bellingham is that we definitely won’t sign him. On both wages and transfer fee I see us buckling.

How's that exactly

He's English therefore is hone grown. Playing in Germany doesn't effect that

This is the law as far as I know and by books, I think it's professional, which he hasn't been....

What constitutes a 'home grown' player? 'Home Grown' means that a player must have been on the books of a club affiliated with the Football Association (England's governing body) for at least three years before they turn 21 – it does not mean that they have to be English.

Nationality is nothing to do with the home grown rule. Players like Pogba and Lukaku are classed as home grown.

Fabio Carvalho will class as home grown for us once he turns 22.

If we sign him next summer then we should be ok as he would have two years at Birmingham and one year with us before turning 21.

I must admit I'm not sure how likely our chances of getting him are. I feel like this is a bit like Mbappe, where we are doing everything we can to look interested, but know full well that we will be blown out the water financially by another club.

Doesn't matter when they are English, hence Sancho being classed as Home grown last year e en though he has been in Germany since he was 17.
