We have a problem in midfield, change is needed.

It’s almost as though we’re missing a certain player who was constantly available, and teams rarely ever ran through us at ease with them in the team.

That's some revisionist shit.  Teams ran through us with ease with the invisiable man in the team as well.  Wijnaldum had two good things going for him. He didn't lose possesion often if he had the ball and he was hardly ever injured.  If he would have brought his finishing from the National team he would have been kept.

Issue with letting him go was not replacing him though when you've got £90m worth of crap on the bench eating up to £300k wages a week between them that we can't shift maybe those in the club didn't want to burden the club with another high wage player until they are gone.

However as I said in the Summer if you we're giving a contract to one of Henderson and Wijnadum it should have been the later.  Henderson was going backwards last year.

Henderson was injured last year. He's also club captain and you don't sell a club captain on a whim.

Wijnaldum wanted more money and he wasn't getting that here,at least not the type PSG pay.

Order of midfielders importance/future planning:

Fabinho (Fairly young, specialist, one of the best in the world in his position).

Elliot (Enormous potential and technically very good).

Thiago (Wonderful footballer, unreliable but he's worth having).

Henderson (Can be used like Milner).

Jones (Not convinced he'll make it here but needs to be given another season before we cut ties).

Ox and Keita need to be sold.

Milner to retire.

We need two at least two top class midfielders, they really could make the difference.

I still think we need to refresh the midfield, but that's not the biggest concern for me. The attack is a far bigger issue in my opinion. I think we're going to really struggle over the next few weeks. The club essentially chose to carry on without any centre backs last season and it essentially ended the season. Going ahead as we are is choosing to try and challenge for trophies without a huge percentage of our goals - it's madness.

It hit the whole squad's morale last season and we've not really recovered. With the Salah contract situation, showing no ambition to win things is only going to see him leave.

Personally I think both are issues. With regards the strikers, it is hard to imagine what our plan is. We want Salah to stay, but it would seem we're not offering him what he wants. Alongside him firmino and mane are out of contract in 18 months too. And we've been trying to sell origi for years and minamino clearly is nowhere near what we need. Mane isn't the player he once was and Bobby hasn't been for even longer.

But as was entirely predictable before a ball was kicked this season, the majority of our midfielders lack either the fitness or ability to be valuable players for us. We seem to have hundreds of midfielders, but we know they're not going to contribute. We need a major clear out and personally I would only keep fab, Henderson (to be used like we've used milner), Elliot and Jones. The big problem of course is it can take some time for players to get to speed with klopp's style of play, so brining in players in the summer window might mean we don't start seeing them produce until this time next year.

And by this summer, klopp will only have 2 years left, so getting players to buy into his project will probably not be as easy as it has been.

We should have brought in both a forward and a midfielder in the last window. It should have been part of the continuity planning. We chose to sit on our hands again and do the absolute bare minimum. I don't expect that to change.

We only need a forward for a couple of weeks of the year. Ok a 5th would be nice but Jota/Salah/Mane/Firmino is fine - it’s certainly not the reason we have been overran frequently against good opposition this season. Curtis Jones is crap (amusingly was down-voted for that on the basis of a few strikes - he’s one paced and can’t defend); Oxlade is very poor; the rest are constant sick notes. But the club didn’t bring in a strong midfielder - so as was plain when we played Chelsea in Aug & City in Oct we won’t win the league because of it. Thiago to be honest should only ever have been considered a luxury player to help us in Europe - he’s never been fit for a domestic season anywhere, ever. He’s similar to what De Bruyne is for City now - a top class luxury player who can’t be relied upon to be fit.

I'm not as big on Fabinho as most people appear to be.

The lad reads the game fantastically well, but he needs to because he's slow as fuck. He would really benefit from pairing with a midfield partner who's physical and who has pace.

Also, his passing is really nothing special; he keeps it simple because his long passing is suspect imo.

I also question his composure when under pressure.

All of that said, Fab would definitely be amongst my 3 starting midfielders when everybody is fit.

Expecting AoC to be one of our front three over the coming weeks, but would much prefer to see Jones up there. It'll be tough on him as he's not really played up there much recently, but with his quick feet we need him in the area. Needs pace around him though.

he is slow, but he does (usually) read the game well, and when on his game does make it difficult to pass through that area of the pitch.  His mobility is his greatest downfall, but I agree he's in our top 3.  Having said that, I wish we had bought Kante.

I think we miss the schemer, the sort of player City have in abundance.  Now obviously Elliott is one such player we have been denied, and I'm not a big fan of Jones, so I'd like one to come in.

In our case we need a disciplined creative player, much like Grealish, and as his price-tag demonstrates they are not cheap.

Now, it could be that Klopp has total faith in Jones and I end up being wrong, but I think we're definitely suffering here and now.

The answer is Florian Wirtz.

Anyway, my contribution is this; fuck all of the Hendo haters, right in the rectum.

I hate to break it to you but Henderson has been vaccinated.

By the way, I don't care because I'm not obsessed with who has taken what medication whereas you look like you are.

I mean, how do you even know that?

I could care less - Hendo's body, Hendo's choice.

Negged for bringing it up in the first place.

I spent the first half yesterday wondering how many cans Hendo and Fabinho had drank on the journey to the stadium.

Milner put in a great performance, but we shouldn’t be relying on him in that way at this stage.

I’m not Keita’s biggest fan, but even he played a few decent passes when he came on.

I’ve always liked Curtis Jones. Ridiculous only giving him stoppage time yesterday. Big opportunity for him to remind us of his talent over the next few weeks.

Borh of them were just unbelievably bad.

Shockingly bad to be honest.
