The ending was a mix bag. A bit Naked Gun shoot out. Plus it felt like they didn't know where to go with Boba after his flashbacks were done and so they padded it out with a season 3 prequel for Mando.  But it took the writers a season to work out Mandalorian and so I'm holding out hope for much better for this too.

I thought the series as a whole was a mixed bag but the pay off in the final episode was brilliant.

 

Cad Bane needs to return though. He’s the best Star Wars character since the originals.

The recent comics have already clarified that Kylo Ren was (officially) Luke's first student, so that gave a pretty big hint as to what would happen there, insofar as it would have been odd if they were going to retcon something that only came out in 2020.

They retconned The Last Jedi in the next film so it wouldn't surprise me.

I thought TBOBF was okay, some excellent moments, some real cringe moments. I'm somewhat disappointed that here was an opportunity to tell a Star Wars story that was a bit different, almost like a Godfather in Space, but instead it fell back onto the old trope of a Jedi and the deus ex machina of The Force. Here comes Baby Yoda to save the day with his amazing powers, yay.

 

Hopefully the Cassian Andor series will bring a grittier take on the Star Wars universe that doesn't rely on magic monks to break the dramatic tension.
