A Honda C50/70/90. These things used to be everywhere but I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road.

When I was a kid we always used to laugh at what we called (with a degree of cultural sensitivity typical of the time) "Jap crap", while marvelling over Norton's and Triumphs.

I think it's fair to say that the people in charge of Honda had a better idea of the needs of a global market than I did.

Great thread.

The once commonplace comb-over. A staple of men's fashion for decades, now just a distant memory. Made for some great weather induced comedy moments.

A guy in our building had what I can only describe as a Double walnut whip, one at the front and one at the back.

Outstanding.

We used to have a fork lift truck driver who was bald as a coot except for at the nape of his neck which he would comb forward to form a fringe which he obviously laquered.

We had these big blowers every few stanchions apart, so when he approached them his hair would lift up like it was on a hinge.

I near pissed myself when I first saw it.

We used to have grey woollen protective gloves and one time when he drove past some lads had laid them on their heads like his hair to take the piss.

Cruel, but funny as fuck.

There’s a lot of middle aged blokes trying to recreate their youth. Chap I worked with spent £1000s restoring an old Honda125. Complete waste of money

The Yamaha two strokes are where it's at. I've seen adverts for Fizzy's upwards of 8 grand.

Electrical Repair shops. Nowadays, you're fucked if something breaks and it's not under warranty. There are no electrical savants anymore that can fix anything electronic. Everyone specialises in one thing and companies are hell-bent on not showing you how their product works.

Used to know a chap who made a decent living just sourcing parts for one specific , obscure East German motorbike type called an MZ . Rum lot you bikers.

I bought one of them, a TS 125 with 1700 km on the clockfor £25 in the mid eighties that had been stood for a couple of years. Cleaned the carb, changed the fuel, charged the battery and it started 2nd kick.

Awful bike though, swapped it for an old Suzuki.

There’s a local charity in Epsom that does a free walk in repair service for small electrical items every Saturday. Old retired blokes who know how to solder stuff and change fuses. You give a donation to local charities. Great idea.
