I posted this previously in the original thread, adding it here too.

From Ed Snowden :

Quote

As authoritarianism spreads, as emergency laws proliferate, as we sacrifice our rights, we also sacrifice our capability to arrest this slide into a less liberal and less free world. Do you truly believe that when the first wave, this second wave, the 16th wave of the coronavirus is a long forgotten memory, that these capabilities will not be kept? That these datasets will not be kept? Will those capabilities begin to be applied to small time criminality? Will they begin to be applied to politicial analysis? Will they begin to be applied for doing things like performing a census? Will they be used for political polling? No matter how it is being used, what is being built is the architecture of oppression.

These systems if we do not change them will not simply be used to monitor our health, they're going to make decisions for us on an automated basis. To determine who gets a job, who goes to school, who gets a loan, who gets a home, and who does not. And we today are being asked in a moment of extraordinary fear : what do we want these systems to look like? And if we don't make that decision ourselves, it will be made for us.

Pureblood has caused trouble so this thread should be deleted? What type of logic is that if there's others using it and it's nothing to do with any trouble he's caused?

I guess you'd prefer the stuff we're posting about in here to be back in the original thread again? Because it was sure working out well when that was happening.

You? Yes. The others? Not so much.

It's fascism is what it is, fascism.

Despite the fact that all of the Covid restrictions we've faced in England have been implemented by, in some respects at least, the most hard-right government of at least the last 100 years, and supported by figures like Andrew Neil and Jon Gaunt, I still see clowns in this country, including on this thread, who call these 'socialist measures, backed by socialists'.

What to make of that?

It seems doing things to help protect other people is an assault on everyone's God-given right to be a selfish cunt.

What trouble is this?

It's on the Busy Bastard Bitchfest thread on the MF. Dug up a comment by another poster and decided to fling it as a personal barb. No coming back from that, I'm afraid. If he does, he should rightfully get a direct hit in the Death Star.

Iceman's posts are helping show how stupid so much of this pandemic response is and he's mainly the only other person posting here apart from me now that Pureblood isn't around. If he posts some memes related to the same subject that seem to wind a few people up if they check the thread I don't see why that should be a big issue.

And this thread seems to help create some space between a few of us that think what's going on is seriously wrong and those that are on the other side of the argument. If we're all placed together again now that thread could just go to shit again.

Over time though I think the original thread will turn as measures becomes more ridiculous and unacceptable to so many and at that point maybe it'll no longer matter who posts where.

I like the idea of having one thread for data and the other for tweets and memes.

There's data here too, even if it's what some don't agree with or like to see.

Removing the only thread that has a different view on what's going on with coronavirus measures, etc, would definitely be called a few things I think, not that I think it'll happen but it was confusing to see it asked.

While not a UK issue the funniest mental gymnastics is watching the American right (including many senators) declaring 'My Body My Choice' while simultaneously pushing through anti-abortion laws.

Calling unvaccinated (who you're mostly referring to I guess) selfish doesn't help at all but you already know that. Plenty of unvaccinated now could have better immunity than vaccinated, not that the narrative peddled by govs and corps likes to admit it because it doesn't rake in cash or help manipulate entire populations.

The Government is already working on ‘Plan C’ restrictions that could be introduced in the New Year if Omicron cases continue to surge, according to reports.

The package would go a step further than current rules by reintroducing the NHS Covid app check-in for people going to pubs and restaurants, making face masks compulsory in all indoor spaces and using vaccine passports for more venues.

https://metro.co.uk/2021/12/10/covid-potential-plan-c-could-include-masks-and-nhs-app-check-in-at-pubs-15748095/?ito=socialmetrouktwitter

At least I can't be accused of not pointing out problems with passports if this happens. And it seems obvious that omicron will surge especially with it being winter.

I’m changing my mind. I’m fully vaccinated but now I want to be unvaccinated. How do I do this?

If you identify as unvaccinated, then you are unvaccinated. And if anyone questions that, even in philosophical terms, then they're worse than Hitler.
