We cannot stop the spread of COVID, but we CAN end the pandemic: Protect the old and vulnerable, forget lockdowns - and learn to live with the virus, writes Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, Stanford University School of Medicine professor

Since we have no technology to eradicate the virus, we must learn to live with it. The fear-based lockdown policies of the past two years are no template for a healthy society. In October 2020, I co-wrote the Great Barrington Declaration (GBD). The centerpiece of the declaration is a call for increased focused protection of the vulnerable older population, who are more than a thousand times more likely to die from COVID infection than the young. We can't stop the spread of COVID, but we can end the pandemic, which is primarily a social and political decision. In Sweden and many US states that have eschewed lockdowns, the pandemic is effectively over, even as the virus continues to circulate. As normal society resumes, the vast majority will find that living with the virus is not so hard after all.

Sure there's a reason they left out the American Institute for Economic Research and the Brownstone Institute from his links and only included Stanford School of Medicine to give it some credence.

Grifter working for investors and lobbyists.

So what is it that he's said in that piece that you disagree with?

Didn't read it and didn't comment on it's content.

Just have a natural dislike and distrust for people who could do good but use it to further the aims of lobbyists who are clearly out to make themselves richer off the back of other peoples suffering. They spend a lot of time denying climate change for the same reason.

103 Marines booted for refusing COVID vaccine as services begin discharges

Up to 30,000 service members remain unvaccinated and could face the same fate.

One hundred three Marines have been discharged for refusing to take the COVID vaccine, the Marine Corps said Thursday, as the military services have begun to discharge a pool of possibly as many as 30,000 active duty service members who still refuse to be vaccinated -- even after multiple opportunities to do so past vaccination deadlines.

I know that's the US but the UK armed forces view on vaccines pre-covid

What happens if I refuse vaccination?

The vaccination programme is voluntary and you will not be forced to have any vaccines if you refuse. Vaccines have a strong safety record and are very successful in protecting people from diseases for which they are given. They are strongly advised to protect you and to help you remain fit and healthy. Refusing vaccination could have an effect on the roles you are able to do and the locations you can safely work in during your military career. This in turn can affect your employability. In the event that you refuse vaccination your clinician will inform your Chain of Command so that you can be managed in the right way.

None of this shit is new.

Because it's fashionable.

Like we've been through with the likes of tetanus and polio, there's no kudos to be had from refusing a vaccine for yellow fever, COVID being the hot ticket gives you plenty of rep though.

I don't want a vaccine because i might die says man going to war.

Yeah fashionable to throw away your pension and benefits. What a ridiculous statement LFD. These men are warriors.

What about mandatory diets? Obese taking up the ICU beds?

Imagine the outrage if that happened, maybe enough people would finally realise how stupid vaccine mandates are though.

78% isn't far off the average 73.6% of the population that is overweight anyway
