A bad performance. Yet West Ham imo was lucky to get away with the 3 points.

Agree Cresswell should've been given a straight red.

Can't understand that blocking the keeper as they did on the first goal isn't penalised. We should take advantage and do the same thing. West Ham has obviously practised this on the traininmg field. Not sure I like the rule but we need to adapt.

Agreed. But there will be a goal scored in the PL when it resumes where the keeper is impeded like Alli was and the ref or VAR will rule it out.

Talking of Cresswell's 'tackle' on Hendo. It's amazing the ref took no action on that because when Thiago first played, he was getting yellows for nothing tackles. We've had rough justice off refs for years handing out yellow cards to us while letting the oppos off without a card for similar or worse tackles. Fucking pickford escaping a red card for his assault on Virgil,a classic example.

That's a crock of shit that mate. He's had a mare today and like all keepers, the occasional fuck up but overall he's an outstanding keeper.

Probably too harsh and obviously coloured by the result, but I really don't think Allison is going in the right direction. Very good first season, but not the same now.

He was touted as the best keeper in the world with his feet, but as we have seen time and time again, he sure ain't. Still really good long passer, but has done some poor choices playing out  from the back.

Then it is his decision making: too many times rushing out and colliding with his defenders.

Crosses is a weakness, as Antonio said their tactic was after the match: just cross it and challenge the keeper. He just doesn't fancy the brawls in the box.

Allison is great in one against ones, and is overall quick and agile. But among the best in the business? No way.

Alisson is obviously one of the best keepers in the world. Ever seen Manny Neuer's blooper reel?

Every keeper makes mistakes. He is one of if not the best in the game.

Ali got suckered into worrying more about Antonio than the ball. Fine margins of being able to move and he will learn from it. Least of my worries from the game.

Agreed. But we need to sort out a way to protect him because every other team is going to try the same thing now.

If we want to win the league, the reality is we need to massively improve. We need to do much better without the ball. There's a chance we can do it, but it doesn't look easy as we could lose Salah & mane for 8 games to afcon and our scoring has been distracting from just how poor we are without the ball.  It's pretty unlikely we'll see anything but the injury impacted midfield we've seen so far. We won't sign anyone in January to help out, so it's a question of find a way to improve sharpish, or accept our best hope is where we finished last season and we can hopefully make a run at the CL.

People said Brentford and Brighton were good sides too and they get fucked on by everyone else.

That's not my point. Anyone can have an off day and there are a lot of decent sides in the league: Brentford at a raucous home game, Brighton when they set up rightly, they're decent enough. If you drop points to them both then you can't afford to have yet another off day against West Ham and lose; equally if you've won against both then a bad day at the office against a good side away from home like West Ham is priced in. None of those results are that dreadful in isolation, but put them all together and it's a major problem.

I don't think there's a 100 point team in the league this year: Chelsea and Manchester City look easily good enough for >85 though. If we're aiming for 90 points then that's a maximum of 24 points we can drop all year. We've dropped 11 already - almost half that with just over a quarter of a season gone. We're inching towards "having to be near-perfect for the rest of the season" territory and we don't look polished enough for that, for many reasons.

He is a big lad - an old school keeper would have punched straight through Ogbonna and brought a knee into his kidney.

Antonio said something like 'we knew he doesn't fancy a challenge" after the match.

Never mind a red card the prick didn't even give a free kick and then carded TAA for a shirt pull.  EPL refs are fucking useless

Clem would have had no issue clearing them out as would Pat Jennings. Alli I'm afraid wasnt up for it.

More worried about our left side myself from fullback through mf to fwd we offered nothing. We need to sort out Robbo and left mf to get the best out of Mane.

It's difficult for keepers when oppos load the box with big gammuts like west ham did to stand in front of them. The keeper shoves them out the way and they fall over, the ref will give a pen.

I said it yesterday, schmeichel got absolute protection from refs in that situation. Yes, the game has moved on but you see refs give a foul in that position more often than not.

Just more incompetence from English officals and Var. Also the hendo challenge should have been a straight red but they fuck that up as well.

The premier league should start hiring the best foreign refs and sack the idiots that officiate league here. Fuck them off to the football league.

Alisson is a big lad, it’s up to him to organise the other players at corners and free kicks, he’s effectively the captain in the box.

For someone his size, he doesn’t seem to stamp his authority at dead ball situations, he should be flattening any fucker who gets in his way, and if you compare him to, say, Clemence who was quite slight in comparison when the game was much tougher, he really looks like a fanny at times.

He makes good stops and is generally very good at 1 on 1 situations to be fair, but many teams best chances and tactics are relying on corners and free kicks against us so we need to be tougher all round when defending those situations.

We're missing Naby Keita. We need a midfielder who can play one-touch football between the lines and makes runs that the front three should be making. Not having Jota central as well. He's okay on the left but whipping crosses into him against 6 foot 4 defenders is the most pointless tactic ever.

Keita definately brings more movement in the final third. He can also beat a player 1v1. And not least he’s excellent in his positioning when we attack, and in the vital seconds after we loose the ball. His pressing in those situations is excellent, and he often wins it back deep in the opponents half. Which created chances for us, instead of counter attacks for the opponent.

His weaknesses are equally easy to spot however, he gives it away too much, is a bit weak in 50/50s, and is too slow defensively once the opponents are in full flow.

And of course he’s injured most of the time, so none of the above really matters.

No keepers "flatten" people anymore. It's pretty much decided now you don't knee an attacker in the back or punch them in the face and on the other side, keepers are generally protected from contact. You can't compare what keepers do now to what you could do 40 years ago, or whatever.

The first goal, Ogbonna backs into Alisson and connects with his elbow which makes him fall and hit his head. It's not like he flaps at it or anything, he's taken out in the middle of when he's trying to get his hands up. That's a clear foul but no pundit who played the game will say it is because they still think it's 1999 and you can hit the keeper. "Game has gone soft" nonsense.

That first goal for West Ham has really irritated me. What the fuck is Alisson meant to do there? They purposely sandwiched him so he couldn't move. Then the one in front fell on him. Absolute pisstake of a decision.

It's not unprecedented, though. Plenty of teams have scored goals like that this season; it's up to the coaches and the defenders to figure out a way to stop it.
