PODCAST: Liverpool 2 Brighton 2 - Match Reaction

What a difference a week makes. From the high of Old Trafford to the low of being outplayed at home by Brighton. Having led 2-0 it feels like two points dropped, but perhaps we should be thankful to even pick up a point given the way Brighton performed in the second half.

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Julian Richards and Ian Brown to sift through the wreckage of a chastening afternoon at Anfield. Talking points include:

• Has Matip had a raw deal?

• Does Ox have any future here?

• Is Minamino a midfield option?

• Bigger sick note - Naby or Thiago?

Stop singing about Solskjaer

• Hey PSG, can we have Gini back on loan in January, pretty please?

Good report. Agree, the 'Ollie's at the wheel' chant was shit. Nuno is apparently on the edge of being binned off by Spurs. Atletico, hope we beat them but we need a far better display than against Brighton. Coventry back in the Prem? Fuck that. Have you never been to Highfield Road and experienced those mongs close and personal?

Never did Coventry away actually, I always think back to that time they battered us in the early 90’s (4-0 or something like that).

Can think of others i’d rather have but I guess the point is we’re bored of the usual yoyo clubs.

I want Coventry up purely because of the nostalgia. I'd like Forest to come back up too, the scabs.

Coventry fans are knobs though. My mackem brother in law went there a couple of years ago with Sunderland and there was murder. There's beef between them because of Jimmy Hill and he said there were kick offs all over the place.

Yeah, I get that. Id have no issue with Blackpool even if the twats do always get good results against us or Bournemouth and Huddersfield. Coventry though, nah.

I only went to Highfield Road once, the Gary Mac 2-0 game in 2001. We had about 200 chances that day. I was on the front row of the tier. I got frustrated before we scored and booted the advertising board. Coppers saw it. It detached and I had to hold it up for the rest of the game like nothing had happened so I didn’t get in trouble.

I remember when they dicked us 4-0 in 83 - Terry Gibson got a hat-trick.

Couldnt give a shit how tough Coventry fans have had it since they upped sticks and went to the Ricoh Arena or whatever it's now called. They were more than happy to enter that partnership with the stadium owners when they thought they were getting a new shiny stadium for fuck all money.

They dont like us scousers and are another bunch of cunts who'll rock up to Anfield singing 'sign on' and the rest.

Regarding the song, yeah it's shit, but it's only a week after, the first home game. Don't think it's a big bother that more people want a laugh about it. If it were rolling on for weeks then yes, but one week?

Agreed.

The game after(Preston) and one airing in the first game at Anfield 6 days later is appropriate. It was a once in a century doing.

Anything after this week is small time, though, and will be confidened to pubs and coaches, and rightfully so.

Turning up to that Luton game is nothing, I was one of the unfortunates outside Turf Moor for the FA Cup in January 2004 when it got called off, and then was at the rescheduled game when Djimi scored that own goal.

I've just checked the team that night:

Liverpool: Dudek, Raven, Hyypia, Whitbread, Traore (Baros 65), Nunez, Biscan, Welsh (Mellor 75), Potter, Warnock, Sinama Pongolle.
