Yeah, liked the guy. Always thought he dealt with his success in Scotland with an old school class. Shame.

Sad news. Always respected him and he took over Everton at a very difficult time. Was always a gentleman and never got into the pettiness of Moyes playing to their fanbase.

His record in Scotland was fantastic, whether you think Scottish footy is a joke or not.

Rest in Peace.  My dad is 77 next month. 73 is no age. Think I’ll give my dad a hug tonight.

Ian Wright took this at a charity golf day a few weeks ago. He looks a lot more poorly than I thought he was, genuinely didn't know he was ill.

Passed away aged 73.

Very sad, always seemed a decent man. RIP.

Tells you all you need to know about the man that Stig has posted this about a former Rangers and Everton manager and Manchester United coach.

Could have chosen better clubs but he was one of the good guys.

Lived in Helensburgh for many years. Met him many times and saw him about town regularly. Always seemed happy to talk to anyone who asked for his time, even those from the other side of the divide which made him well respected locally.

A decent human being.
