I really don't the dock of the bay, it's just one of them songs you respect as a classic but you'd never ever choose to listen to it, well I wouldn't.

It's still the Stones. A masterpiece of the impotent rage of grief. "I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky" is more heartfelt, relatable and sincere than Auden's "Stop all the clocks".

 

I love Otis but (beautiful and haunting as it is) this is not my favourite.

 

I've always thought the Beach Boys were overproduced for my taste: all brains and not enough balls.
