Ferdinand: I would take Mo Salah over Luis Suarez

Could you ever imagine Mo Salah only scoring 11 PL goals in a season where he played 31 games? Me neither.

Suarez did though, his three full seasons with us saw him scoring 11, 23 and 31 goals as a front striker.

The least PL goals Salah has got in a full season is 19, Salah is simply on another level, when it comes to consistency, goalscoring and availibility.

I have no idea how this is even up for question.

Mo every day, and twice on weekends.

Footy fans being arsed about boiling other fans’ piss, is one of the worst things about modern football. Call me old fashioned, but I just want to see boss players playing for my team, scoring goals and winning things.

Suarez's ability to frustrate the opposition and get the opposition fans riled during a game was a benefit to us on the pitch, couldn't give a toss about off the pitch YouTube wannabe's.

Disagree with this. 08/09 we picked up 86 points versus 84 in 13/14 and a post Christmas dip was our undoing there. We only lost 2 games all season

Gerrard didn't drag that side anywhere, he was part of an excellent XI in 2008. The shite Suarez played with is incomparable.

Reina > Mingolet

Arbeloa = Johnson

Sami > Skrtel

Carragher > Sahko

Aurelio > Flanno

Masch > Allen

Alonso > Henderson 14

Gerrard 08 > Gerrard 14

Kuyt = Sterling

Riera/Benayoun < Coutinho

Torres < Suarez

The thing they both have in common is the drop off in quality after the first 14. Today's squad gets to 18 or 19.

When was Suarez never available other than bans? As injury free as they come

also think it’s remiss to not consider the impact of their respective managers that managed them. Imagine Klopp giving Suarez a hug.

ideally both is the right answer. But if I had to pick one I’d go with Suarez. He would replace the goals salah goals and his will to win was something else. I believe he would get his barca numbers in this team.

they are both bloody great though.

Yeah, that’s fair enough to be fair mate. That 08/09 is prime Gerrard. Torres wouldn’t have got anywhere near the numbers he did without Stevie. He never did before or after. Gerrard dragged every team he played in a level or 2, or even 3 above at times. There were shit teams he was in where we pushed close as well - a lot worse than that 13/14 team, who again gained and were lifted from having Gerrard there. Suarez was himself.

Also, Sami was mainly the back up when needed that season - mainly skrtel and carra at cb.

How's Suarez will to win greater than Salah? Because he was a cunt on the pitch? Then yes, but otherwise, I don't know how you'd measure that.

Kenny put his reputation and job on the line for Suarez

I'd be staggered if he didnt appreciate what he did

So being a bit of a cunt and getting bans for biting people, doesnt count as a negative then?

I’m talking about football, I’m not a peace envoy. Suarez was never injured and was a phenomenal footballer as is Salah, I love them both. Suarez was better though, he was a cunt yeah, so what?

So what? He missed games because of it, I dont want our players to miss games because they cant behave.

When analysing Suarez's feats for us, you have to preface it with the fact that he was vilified, like no other player in the history of the Premier League. The number of times he was legitimately fouled in the box and a penalty wasn't given (because of his reputation) is too numerous to count. It's also important to note that he didn't take penalties, unlike Mo.

Just look at that 13/14 season: 31 goals, 13 assists and 14 man of the match awards. It speaks for itself. 59 goals for Barcelona in the 15/16 season. Mo is amazing, and we're incredibly lucky to have him, but Suarez was a freak of nature.

The best performance I've ever seen when I've been in the ground was Suarez against Zenit in David Brent's first season as manager! I've never seen a player torture a team like that before or since. He was mind blowingly brilliant.

Doesn't change the fact that Mo is ace.

Didn’t we lose as well?

Its not even close if you watched both players in their prime.
