Jimmy Greaves RIP

Recommended Posts

Shame, honestly surprised he was as young as he was. Thought he was late-80s at least.

A real legend and a genial presence growing up. Just bubbling with enthusiasm for the game and good humour.

One of my boyhood hero’s

Still remember a goal he scored against Newcastle where he picked up the ball on halfway, ran half the length of the pitch , waltzed round the keeper to tap it home.

great great player, Good media fella , funny and self deprecating , unlike the.twats now,

I’m very sad he’s gone . RIP

Great striker and seemed like a good guy. Still a bit miffed that he was allowed to score a winning goal against us from a free kick while we were still lining up.

Very sad news. I liked Greavesie as a player a long, long time ago. If he was a young player nowadays, he'd earn a king's ransom.

Amongst his clubs were, chelsea, Milan, Spurs and West Ham, the later that saw at least Martin Peters go to Spurs.

Football's a funny ol' game. RIP, Jimmy, mate.

Edit, where did Torino come from?!

I remember watching Saint and Greavesy one Saturday and it mentioned headbutting over a recent incident. The game they were discussing involved Birmingham City. Greavesy pipes up and says, well Saint, the way the're playing if a Birmingham City player tried to headbutt someone he'd probably miss.

Funny bloke, RIP.

One of the greats. I always liked Jimmy Greaves. A phenomenal goalscorer and a very funny fella.

Such a shame he didn't play in the 66 World Cup Final.

Loved him in Saint and Greavsie, probably the best ever footy show.

Rest well Greavsie.

Sad news…Always watched Saint and Greavsie just before going the game . Remember him one year backing us to win everything including the Boat Race and the Grand National

Loved this clip even though it doesn’t actually feature the ‘real’ Jimmy Greaves, I remember him saying that he loved it so much could it do it every week and just post him the cheque
