Also, normally I would agree with the part where Pearce says we wouldn't spend 60m for a backup, but this just makes no sense this time as 3 of our forwards are out of contract soon. Luis Diaz, or any other forward, is not staying a backup for long. Weird rationale there on Pearce's part.

He'd be backup to Salah, Mane and Jota, I guess. Once one of the three isn't playing in an international tournament, flying to or from an international tournament, completely out of form, injured, out with Covid or suspended.

Yep, agree with with you that it's nonsense. If he's anyway good he'd play as many games as he wants.

I try not to get too bogged down in the transfer stuff, as it's utterly deflating that we've stopped buying footballers.

Sporting Lisbon and Porto were both fined in December for breaching FFP rules and will need to prove by 31 January that they can comply with the rules or risk being fined again.

Maybe they need to sell Luis Diaz.

If that's the case, it would be highly unlikely he'd cost 60m. That's very much a buyer's market.

Good to see we are/were in the “race” whilst at the same time not being interested. Clever eh.

So it’s between Arsenal and Newcastle?

I’d be genuinely disgusted if we sold Origi to them for any less than £50m. They’ve got the fucking money, pay it.

Apologies for being the bearer of bad news. But my sources tell me we’re not getting anywhere near to 50m & it is likelier to be closer to 10m.

If FSG are going to accept a low-ball offer from a club with unlimited funds, then clearly they must have had an epiphany in which they’ve decided that money is no object, and will be lavishing funds upon the team starting this window.

It’ll cover the statue cost, that not good enough, eh?

10 mil for Origi is a lowball offer??

The lad has been trotted past every club in Europe for the last 18 months. He is basically worthless.

Same for Phillips - it is fun and games to say how he is the new Baresi but he is a player that was literally worthless 12 months ago.

20 mil for those two would be an incredible return.

Porto out of the CL as well. Sporting still in it but won't advance past Man City.

Sporting have an attacking midfielder called Pedro Goncalves who a lot of people.rave about.

Our owners always seem to be concerned about FFP but we can spend around £275m without selling anyone.

If he gets games, Origi will score between 15-20 goals in the league. Players like that cost money, usually a lot of it.

Whats the drug of choice these days Ardja? £30m for Keita, you would need to be on something, take £1m for him..throw in that Neco Williams also!!

Havertz, next Salah, proper number 9? he’s tall, good in the air and ambidextrous, thats the opposite of Salah?

One question, can you write on this forum while dreaming?

We paid £50m+ for Keita, I reckon £30m is fair given we sold Solanke for £20m. Maybe my valuation of Neco was a touch optimistic.

I’ve explained re next Salah comment… forget style of play, just someone who isn’t performing but would thrive when given a proper go in the right system. I watched a fair bit of Havertz in his last season for Leverkusen. He looked like an excellent number 9.

I rate Havertz highly - to the point I have taken some stick on here for it - but he only played as a CF maybe a handful of times.

They had the Argentinian fella upfront.

He played upfront almost exclusively in the second half of that season from memory.
