It's not cost us but you wonder why we waited so long without Mo amd Mane, though maybe we just waited as Porto need to sell so just sat and waited till they buckled.

Looks like it was a move planned for the summer brought forward because of Spurs interest.

It may be that we were going to wait until the summer but Spurs making serious attempts to buy him forced us to move up the schedule a bit.

It's a bit of a weird one though. Usually in that situation we say to the player to turn down any alternative move, and if they don't, we decide they were never that arsed about playing for us and move onto the next target. If they stay where they are, we go back in for them. It's what happened in the Werner and Van Dijk situations. Werner took the move that was on the table, and looks like a wanker at Chelsea. Van Dijk turned down City to wait for us, and he's won the Champions League and Premier League.

Like if we've said to Diaz (via his agent or whatever) sit tight until the summer, turn down Spurs and we'll definitely be in for you then, and he's said no thanks I'd rather play for Spurs now than Liverpool next season, that sounds a bit like he's got the wrong mentality.

Porto have FFP issues that need to be resolved before the 31st Jan after being fined in December.

It's probably a perfect storm of price/availability/interest from other clubs.

Fingers crossed. He looked decidedly mediocre against us. We have Jota and Mane in his position, and they’re better than him.

We must have watched a different game, I thought he was excellent against us and caused us problems all night at Anfield.

He was quick and robust and got in behind loads of times first half. Had a nice pass and good awareness.

I don't find this one strange, mane has been shite for 18 months now and doesn't look like recovering his form. We desperately need another threat down the left side. This kid looks quick enough and strong enough to play in the prem and cause teams problems. Spend the next 6-8 months learning our system and be ready to fire next season.

Bissuoma and Bellingham in the summer and we have a great squad!

Diaz looks like the guy that kills Patrick Swayze in Ghost.

Whoopi Goldberg?

Isn't Carvalho a tricky right footed forward? Is he capable of being moulded into being the Bobby Successor? Only seen his highlight reel where he seems to start on the left and cut in all the time, not sure if he’s starting as a 10 like Coutinho or if Fulham play him out wide.
