Premier League Round Up (Aug 21-23 2021)

Normal service was resumed as City rolled Norwich over 5-0 at the Etihad in the most predictable scoreline of the weekend. Any time they face shit at home they seem to win somewhere between 5-0 and 8-0. Wonder how many they’ll put past Watford this year?

Not going to waste any more time on this as I didn’t watch any of it and we didn’t learn anything from it that we didn’t already know. Similar to last week when they lost at Spurs, there was nothing especially eye opening about that either. Man City are who we thought they were.

So are Norwich. No different to when they were up last time. They’ll finish bottom, unless of course Palace take longer than expected to realise the terrible mistake they’ve made. Either way, Norwich are going back down again.

Actually wait, I have one more point to make on this. City were GIVING AWAY thousands of tickets and still couldn’t fill the stadium. If they can’t fill it now when they’re winning everything then it’s never happening is it? It’s because the whole thing is so fake. There’s just no romance about any of it.

They’ve been low key doing this shit for years though. They give tickets away for free and Sheikh Mansour pays for them so their revenues are artificially swelled. On their accounts they have a full house every game. Cheating cunts.

Almost as predictable as the scoreline was Guardiola’s condescending pat on the head to Norwich for the way they approached the game. Of course he loved that because any small team that goes to the Etihad and tries to play City at their own game is going to get fucking slaughtered.

That’s why Palace have had success against them because Hodgson doesn’t give a fuck about playing pretty football. Defend and break with pace is the only way for the smaller teams to compete against City but very few of them try to do it as so many of these coaches now are wannabe Klopp or Guardiolas.

Not having this 'off-balance' or 'clumsy' excuses for blatant stamps. Perez made no effort not to clatter the defender and actually adds more force in the last stride. There was an even worse one in the West Brom Arsenal game last night when a young lad quite clearly ensured he stamped on Saka's ankle without even a free kick being given. Even at the pathetic level iI played it is quite clear if somebody is trying to avoid a collision or accidentally stamping on an opponent whether they are off balance or not.

Fully agree with this. Perez was pissed off because he thought he'd been fouled first and took it out on Fornals. It fucked up the whole 'lighter touch' narrative as Oliver played on, even though it was abundantly clear immediately that Fornals was in some distress. The flaw in the 'lighter touch' approach is that our referees are so fucking clueless that they're unable to tell the difference between a Bruno Fernandes going down under minimal/no contact (which we all want to see ignored) and a nasty foul like at West Ham, or the casual thuggery of Burnley. The fact that it was Oliver that made this mistake is concerning as he's the best of a bad bunch.

Meanwhile...cracking round up as ever (saves me bothering to watch my recording of MotD)
