1-1 isn't a bad result against a side that will be challenging for the title.

45 minutes against 10 men though, does feel like an opportunity wasted.

Yea, I always expect us to win these big games, especially at Anfield but I would've taken a draw before half time. Hard to imagine our entire left side being that poor in another game this season as well. Robbo and Hendo should get back into the swing of things. Mané needs to see a shrink or if it is long covid a specialist and figure out what can be done. He looked slightly better at the start of the second half but quickly faded back to being anonymous.

Not thrilled with the result given the man advantage but the sky isn't falling either. Klopp, Edwards, FSG whoever need to get Bobby tested asap because with Mané's form we need another attacker if he's going to miss any time at all. Could've used one anyway.

And we've won our last two games against 11.

It's disappointing but overall not that terrible a result. The worry is Mane and our lack of an alternative.

Yep, that's the bigger issue. Feels like two points dropped but shit happens. Its how we respond to it is the important thing. And in this case the correct response is to buy someone, you tight cunts.

We're not yet fully fit. And we always had trouble breaking that sort down. 2 points definitely lost but its early days. I thought thiago was brought in to help against this sort of bollix low block and in my opinion, should've been brought on at half time. The way the half went, the only member of our squad capable to shooting from range is the ox. Another who could've been brought on, but let's not get too pissed off and carried away. How often have a team done well with ten men defending deep? It happens. We roll with it and it's a solid enough start to the league.

Not a bad result. A head to head between two of the title favourites often yields a draw early in the season and the 10 man situation isnt really relevant at this level. Not unhappy with the result but one or two players are still below par,TAA and Fabinho particularly imo.

Its a poor result. We missed out on 3 points against a direct rival.

No creativity.  Mane getting stick but no one was helping create opportunities for him, Chelsea too deep for him to get in behind.  Both full backs terrible and if they're off their game there's no drive from the midfield. I still say we need another midfielder, someone who can make something happen and offers something different.  Elliott may be that in the future but we need someone now.

Having said all that it can be notoriously difficult to break down 10 men so today is not the best day to judge, but concerning.

Main things to take from this game:

- Taylor did his job, refereeing was 90/10, and we can thank VAR for the penalty

- Two good teams, both will be up there come May

- We didnt do enough in the second half to make sure we got the three points

- Harvey Elliott is a fucking brilliant player. Not a promising youngster, but a top class player

Bang on, Taylor with his usual performance when he has us. Chelsea really well organised but we made it easy for them at times. Only thing Harvey needs to add to his repertoire is a dig from outside the box but that will come. Disappointed with our left side today.

It was difficult because we stopped playing and ran out of options. Could have done with a centre forward to sit on Thiago and Rudiger. Instead there was hardly anyone in the box, all our players sit mostly outside or on the edge of the box looking for a pass.

I don't think it's a terrible result because Chelsea are going to be a tough team this year, but it's definitely more 2 points dropped than 1 point gained. Feelings:

  • Fingers crossed, Virg looks like his normal self
  • We were awful in attack all game. This performance was reminiscent of those last season, whereby the attackers have no fluidity or creative ingenuity. Our attack amounts to relying upon Salah or Mane to beat their man with a dropped shoulder or finding an impossible cross. Jota is a brilliant goalscorer and counter attacker but doesn't get involved in the build up enough to create chances. Firmino was shit for the time he was on (as per) and Mane was equally awful. Salah is basically trying to make it happen on his own.
  • Fullbacks are totally off form. Two years ago, 8/10 crosses they'd put in would be on the money, now its more like 2/10.
  • Elliot has brilliant potential and I'm genuinely excited by his fearlessness, but he's too raw for us to be relying upon as our midfield dynamo. I think he was 50% less effective than he could be due to our attackers being shite and offering no movement. He'll win us points against the fodder but he's 1 or 2 season away from getting the confidence needed to truly impact games at the biggest stage (but it will come)

We need to sign some fucking players, at the very least we need one very good attacker. I can't be bothered replying to the morons on here who will continue to defend these owners or convince themselves there is some 'method' in us having a $9m positive net spend this summer, but the owners need to pull their fucking finger out because otherwise we're in for a long season.

Its not the result we wanted but its not poor. Chelsea are a good well organised team . But lets be honest if we won you would find something to complain about I'm sure.

Jesus, you'd think we'd lost and been played off the park. I'd hate to have this "everything's shit" outlook some of our 'support' have. For fucks sake, lighten up, or fuck footy off altogether. It can't be good for your health. Now if you'll excuse me, the Mrs has brought me another beer. Cheers.

Oh sure. Our best option for winning the game with 10 minutes left was to bring on a second choice left back. Go fucking figure.
