Not a fan of sticks personally, a good box beats a good stick imo.

Problem is getting a box for the same price isn't going to give similar performance. Decent boxes cost at least £100, possibly £150+. I've been impressed with the 4K firestick for iptv, gets the job done with no fuss. Although an Ethernet adapter was an essential addition for me.

My brother has a formule7 box , loves it and his internet is stable enough for the  record facility to work well. Saying that , I'm just moving my sub back to the zgemma box from the firestick as the stick is becoming unreliable (hdmi not showing up on the TV)

I've had a few different ones, Android, Raspberry Pi and Firestick. I upgraded to a firecube recently and that's solid, decent ram and plenty of HD space.

Decided to give firecube a go myself, as it was half price, acts like an amazon speaker without remote and allows for ethernet connection without buying anything extra.

It is quite decent tbh, I wouldn't have paid full price for it but deffo worth it at the sale price amazon regularly have.

What OS do Amazon's boxes/sticks use? Is their own custom OS built on top of android?

How would you compare it to Google TV, for those that have used both?

As I understand it, those Amazon boxes do have their own OS, and they also have their own (restricted) version of the Playstore. It's why I've never bought one.

I bought one of these a few years ago, brilliant piece of kit. Perfect for Kodi and IPTV. Shop around and you will get one for less than a ton.

So, no Freeview box uses tinterweb to show live TV?

I want the Skyq experience of watching, pausing and recording live TV but on a Freeview box.

Never used one but just Google internet based Freeview boxes and you'll find one.
