Still fucked off about the decision in 2012 to cut what was already a tiny budget for handball to absolutely nothing.

A cheap, simple, energetic sport which would have been perfect for schools.

Watching the women's game France v Spain at the moment. It's great.

Yeah, handball is played on the same courts as fútbol sala. Instead we’re asking grassroots footy teams to find £150-200 quid an hour to play on crushed up car tyres.

No doubt things could be better, especially where grassroots involvement is concerned, but I remember the 1996 Olympics when Britain came 36th in the medal table with a single gold, and the last three Olympics have delivered 19, 29 and 27 gold medals respectively, so someone somewhere is doing something right.

Could have got Goodison to host it, being that it's the only place that regularly sees handball in this country.

Eliminating the basketball funding was even worse, in my opinion. Already one of the most played sports in the country, resources in place across the country (nets & courts). But no grassroots organisation or will to provide youth coaching or central team to aspire to, or see as a pathway to Eurobasket/NBA recognition.

It was all there to be exploited

The dressage. What's that all about.

Waste of time 'sport' that was put in purely to appeal to posh inbreds.

To think the IOC tried to get rid of Greco-Roman wrestling and left the likes of that shite in. Equestrianism should only be an Olympic event if it involves firing arrows from horseback, just like the old days.

Harsh there pal - everyone likes a good joust.

Equestrian events were part of the ancient Olympic games, so they arguably* have more of a right to be part of the Olympics than stuff like table tennis and swimming.

Incidentally, even back then they were the most egalitarian of events - it was the only thing women were allowed to compete in.

*not really arguable

Watching the Ladies Triathlon race just now. Those people are amazing. I get tired just looking at them.

Astonishing. Duffy just destroyed everyone, but I do wonder whether the gold/silver finish would have been closer if she had not got the flat tyre in the bike race
