We took 6 points from 6 games against Man City, Chelsea, and Spurs, no? That isn't league-winning standard against our three best-managed competitors. I thought we were lucky enough in a few of those games, too...

Case to be made for defensive replacements.

That's 10 goals conceded in those 6 games.  We invariably always score, but seldom keep them out in those games.

Its not that we need City to drop a level next season- we need around 6-8 teams to bloody lift theirs. Our style of play should still accrue a hefty win ratio- if other sides actually go up that level City would struggle to pass everyone to death

I get your point, but that might work against us too.
No, what we need to do is keep recruiting the depth of squad, particularly midfield, to field the team that is a masterclass of the Klopp Way.

City getting Haaland? We match that at least.

I think that is probably the only valid criticism that can be levelled at us this year. Arguably lucky to take points of City and we dug in to get them, but the performances against Chelsea at home v 10 men and away when we went 2 up are the stand out ones where we should definitely have done better. As was the loss at Leicester and being 2 up at home to Brighton.

Being objective though, it’s incredibly bad luck for us to be getting points totals like we are doing and only having 1 league title to show for it. Teams coming a close second in a race to win the league will always have games where they’ll kick themselves but we’re on course for 92 points which by any stretch is some achievement.

When you can lose just 2 games, go unbeaten for about 5 months, rack up over 90 pts and still not win the title because sportswashing, cheating bastards have moved the bar to requiring near perfection, you know for sure football is fucked...and it is only going to get worse.

We have a team that is as good as any we have had - and they look highly likely to win very little compared to what they should have won - and when that is because the cheats have done what they have done it is absolutely sickening....it must be so dispiriting for our players, they deserve so much credit for not throwing the towel in.

It's sickening as a supporter and it is compounded by the knowledge that millions of footy fans across the land are happy that these cheating bastards are mopping up titles, as long as it stops us.

Im sure you were cheering on united instead of City when the sports washing cunts stopped them winning titles.

The league has been bought more often than not for over two decades.  All this crying now just cause it’s us in second place.

Ultimately it was that farcical period of the season with covid disruptions that proven costly. City were probably the only team unaffected...must've just carried on regardless of positive cases

Is right.

Being forced to go to two of our toughest aways with weakened teams and them playing against weakened teams killed us....and IMHO the integrity of the league too.

We did extremely well to make a fight of it after that, but yeah that farcical period did for us.

Remind me again how often when before the last few years (i.e. this era of the sportswashing cheats doing what they have done) when 97 pts was not enough to win league and when 92 likely wasn't (like it probably won't be this season)....

Yep, plus playing in an empty ground gave them an enormous tactical advantage

It’s irreverent.  All this started with Chelsea and some of you can definitely say you wanted Liverpool to lose a league game to them to stop united winning a title  (The one were Gerrard obliged)

How many celebrated that Aguero goal?

It might be convenient to pretend it started five years ago but nope.

Aside from the odd season and we are talking really odd this did all start about 5 years ago....

We may get 92 this season and have already failed to win a title with 97.

This season if we get to 92 it would have been enough to win the Premier League in 22 of the first 24 seasons of the Premier League, and maybe 23 based on goal difference, but not enough to win in 5 of the last 6 seasons. Prior to 2017, 92 points would have been the joint-second highest total in history.

Since 2017, it's been exceeded in all but one season:

2017 - Chelsea (93 Pts)
2018 - Man City (100 Pts)
2019 - Man City (98 Pts)
2019 - Liverpool (97 Pts)
2020 - Liverpool (99 Pts)
2022 - Man City (95 Pts possible)
2022 - Liverpool (92 Pts possible)
