It's just unthinkable that this is a pitch on which an FA Cup Final is about to be played. Being curious about the date, I've just checked and although it wasn't actually in the traditional Cup Final month of May, it was only a couple of days off, on April 29th, 1922. The state of it! It looks like a field trampled by a herd of cattle in the middle of winter.

 

Another thing to note is that the player shaking hands (the angle makes it look like a fist bump) is the only youthful looking one there, all the rest looking the same age bracket as James Milner.
