Is he shite? I only seen him a couple of times before he joined Chelsea and he looked bang average in those games.

He's just non-stop energy. His work rate is like Robertson and Milner (a few years ago). His finishing is shocking though. And when I say shocking, there's no conceivable way it can continue at this rate. It's bad to the point of unfathomable.

It cannot be overstated how good that decision was by the club to sign the fella on Wolves bench (Jota) over the proven goalscorer (Werner) that summer. Chelsea went with the obvious choice. We prioritised footballing IQ and signed a little genius. Footballing IQ trumps everything else.

Werner to United this January would be a good play for Ralf.

We would've signed Werner if the financial conditions were right. It's just another case of making the best with the alternative.

Interesting piece with a Liverpool-based athletics coach who helped Phil Foden increase his speed by changing his running style. Names a few of our players he’d like to work with, including Trent.

Nice one! I'll forward this to a couple of the young footballers I'm working with who have all but given up on increasing their speed. Perhaps this will inspire them to give sprint training another go? Have to give kudos to Foden for giving the trainer some exposure.

Given the importance of speed in the modern game, it's kind of strange that one of England's biggest talents working out at one of the most advanced academies in the world needs to go outside of the football bubble to get better. Shows that there's always room for improvement, I guess.

Yes, we probably would have but he decided chelsea's bigger wedge was better because Fwank promised him a title challenge.

We would have signed Julian Brandt instead of Mo if Brandt wasnt so focused on keeping his place in Germany's squad, although why he thought he'd lose it if he came here, goodness only knows.

I believe it's called serendipity.

I don't think Werner moved for money. He wanted to go to Bayern, but the bid in the previous window never materialised and he was left hanging. We were in pole position for him, then got cold feet and wanted to see how much we'd lose due to Covid. Chelsea stepped in and he took the opportunity to guarantee a move to a top side. Can’t really blame him.

Er, according to Jurgen, he asked about coming here and Jurgen said, we couldnt better chelsea's offer. There wasnt any cold feet about it. The money chelsea offered would have put him on more money here than Mo and Virgil.

People believe what they will. Like most German players, yes, i guess he did want to go to Bayern at one point but seemed content to come here until money talked. Which manager would you want to play for, Jurgen or Fwank? Hmmm, tough choice!

As I remember (feel free to correct me) Klopp said he couldn't justify spending £50-60m on a player while they were still discussing salary waivers with the current squad. Nothing mentioned about wages. We weren't going to meet his buyout, and certainly not in a structure that would've suited Leipzig. We left him hanging. Once Chelsea entered the equation he's free to ask for whatever he can get.
