I honestly don't know if the league is shit. Us and City of the past 4-5 years and this Chelsea team are genuinely some of the best teams of all time.

Well, that definitely opens up the gap but I do think many of the other sides in the league are so bad at spending the money they have, and are generally pretty poorly managed.

Tottenham, Arsenal and United all have negative goal differences.

It would never happen but out of curiosity I'd love to see a competition between the bottom three of the four or five best leagues in Europe.

Juve could miss out on CL qualification the way things are going.

Struggling to work out what the fuck Allegri is doing.

Admittedly it's probably not his fault they have the worst collection of midfielders in the history of the club.

Chiesa aside, their transfer business the last few years has been poor. Mingebagging Bosmans like Ramsey, Can and Rabiot, then paying the earth for Ronaldo.

I'd hesitate to call Allegri yesterday's man, but it does look like he's trying to grind out old school 1-0s in a Serie A that's getting faster by the season. Starting to remind me a bit of Mourinho, as he realised the league had changed without him.

Hopefully they continue tanking and Klopp can take Federico to Blackpool.

I guess it depends on Juve finances, especially if they miss out on champions league. The Chiesa deal is 40ml euro plus a possible extra 10 and they've paid 7ml in loan fees. If finances are tight they might fancy making a quick 20/30ml on him by activation the deal and selling him on.

Is he worth that sort of money though, his goal return isn't. If you were going to pay 70ml and probably 150k a week to him it's around 109ml over 5 years. Wouldn't you be better off just offering Mbappe even 120ml over 5 years. A salary that keeps the wage structure and the rest as a signing on fee amd loyalty bonus for each year. Seems likely he will go to Madrid but surely when a player like that is available you make a offer.

If we can find someone of Jota's quality for around the price we paid for him, then Chiesa's not worth a huge fee. But there's probably years where you can't find such deals for players that fit our style of football and that are close to becoming really good. We still haven't paid more than 40 or so million for an attacking player.

Went to watch Hertha BSC host Augsberg today at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Stadium was ace, but there can’t have been more than 15,000 people there, and that could be way overestimating as the huge stadium was mostly empty with just the section behind one goal in the upper tier being even close to busy, and we got ourselves in there easily and had a whole row to ourselves.

The game had kicked off when the PA system was still making announcements and playing “we are sailing” while everyone holds scarves aloft above their heads and sways about.

Game was shite, both teams terrible anywhere near the goal, but Hertha we’re always comfortable after going ahead due to a terrible mix up between goalie and defender gave them a tap in about 5 mins before half time.

second half players and fans went berserk after a second goal from a corner but while the whole team are on the blue running track way past the pitch celebrating and everyone is singing along to the goal celebration music the goal go chalked off for offside by VAR.

another was disallowed for offside later, like the goal Everton had ruled out against the Mancs earlier this year, where the lad through on goal should never have even been thinking about passing but did, and the scorer was offside.

3 1/2 mins into 4 mins of added time, Hertha had a corner, which they took short and tried to buy a soft free kick in the corner but the ref didn’t buy, gave the other way and then had to book a couple of players after a scuffle. Somehow the goalie was allowed to take the free kick from about half way into his half, and the ball ends up being played into the box for Augsberg to head into the net for an undeserved equaliser.

full time 1-1.

very pissed. Lovely time.

Benfica vs Belenenses tonight. Belenenses likely to field less than 11 players as 14 have tested positive for covid. The game cannot be postponed apparently.

9 outfield players Inc 2 keepers, 0 on the bench. 7-0 at HT. Apparently Belenses tried to not come out for 2nd half. Told they had to, got a early injury so game abandoned due to only 8 players.

Guarantee if Porto or Benfica are in that position the game doesn't get played

Though I do wonder why they didn't just throw a couple of the U21/18 into the squad

In terms of fitting our style, Chiesa would be as good as it gets. He's gotta be too expensive at this point to buy without a big sale, though.

Unless there's something particular about his contract situation.

I rarely agree with you but in this occasion you’re spot on. I’d love Chiesa here.

As with most imports, it’d be good to see him spend a year at Southampton or Leicester to prove he could cut it in the premier league.

Never got the hype with Howe at all. Did a decent job nothing more. Kept hearing how they didn't have the money etc, the had enough to give up about 50ml for Solanke,Ibe and Smith.

He actually spent 200 million there across the years they were in the Prem. They got progressively worse too and eventually completely lost their identity across that time.

They started off with a team that had come through the leagues together playing some nice football and ended up playing deep defensive stuff and barely able to get out their own half.

Frigging hell , tough crowd.

He was appointed at fucking Bournemouth as the youngest manager in the whole football league with a 17 points deduction and saved them from going in to the Conference , had them in the Prem within 6 years and kept them there for the only 5 years in Bournemouth's history. He spent £200m but that was from money brought by him giviing them the Prem riches and offset by at least £150m for Ake , Danjuma , Wilson , Ramsdale , Mings , Afobe and Mousset. We may scoff at Solanke's fee but they would probably get it back if he went on the list and he will more than pay for hinself if he brings them back up with the goals he is scoring.
